The LP4 has been carrying the Texas Psych torch since the MidA Brief History-
The LP4 has been carrying the Texas Psych torch since the
Mid-90s. Following in the footsteps of the Mike Gunn and Dry Nod this seven
member quartet has been praised in the pages of Ptolemaic Terrascope (UK), Rockerrilla (Italy), Magnet (USA), Broken Face (Sweden), et al. and has recently concluded its fruitful
relationship with September
Gurls records in Germany.
Additonally in the first week of December 2007 there will be a Limited 13 CDR release as part of John Melia's Grey Ghost Series. The single for Grey Ghost 48 is called "HAWG!" and was originally slated for "All Things are Light" but due to time limits of vinyl - the song ended up on the editing room floor.
"They look like, maybe I think, what the Goonies would look like today."- As told to Lance Scott Walker by one of the editors or 002 Magazine
First off, it's almost
impossible to describe its music in some kind of pithy rock-crit manner.
Psychedelic space metal for the Mensa set is about the best we could come up
with, and it doesn't quite encompass all that the LP4 does. It's not quite a
stoner rock band, nor pure psych rock. Some songs could be likened to the
spacey Britpop of Super Furry Animals and Spiritualized, or even early Pink
Floyd, but members also bust out with a little hardcore here and there and
even occasionally cloak themselves in the black garb of a death metal band. In
short, they sound like a pretty large swath of the totally unique Houston rock
scene all rolled into a single group.

WEIRD ALERT could not make things plainer."- Q Magazine (UK)
"one of the top purveyors of
the Texas stoner psychedelic style" Free City Media (USA)
spaced out metal and ultra
heavy psychedelia that will appeal to anyone who likes.... well... spaced out
metal and ultra heavy psychedelia. - Aural Innovations (USA)

Confused, "You couldn't handle that shit on strong acid, man." On second
thought, maybe that's the only way you could." Austin Chronicle

"...possibly the most enigmatic
yet bombastic rock band to emerge out of Texas in the last 10 years."

"Anthemic, stupid and selflessly
unrestrained, the LPQ eventually attain self immolation of sorts during the
sprawling chaos."-Ptolemaic Terrascope (UK)

doing a few less bonghits" - Option Magazine
Who we'd like to meet here-
After a short bit of the usual Myspace friend trolling we quickly realized how annoying and stupid that is. Therefore, we are looking for real fans and also bands with whom we are actually friends in the real world or at the very least like minded bands who we'd like to meet and whom we admire. Yes, we've grown to hate the myspace "I have a million friends" schtick. So you won't see very many friends and you call us the Anti-myspace friend band but to quote Bill Hicks we'd "rather have a few minds in the room than a couple thousand asses in seats". I know it's cool in some camps to have a huge fake "friend collection" we just think it's utterly stupid.
Therefore if you want to be our friend you must to e-mail us along with your friend request.
Thanks guys! For all the Houston haters, there are some things totally fuckin awesome about it. i give them LP4 and tell stories of yore. oh and there's that rothko chapel thing too...you just have to ignore the pollution a lil. xoxo
get some vinyl already. do we have to pick up all the pychedelic slack in this town? geez.....can a 2 piece be overbooked? ever hear of drummers' fatigue? c'mon already.
