Lisbee Stainton is a London-based 21 year-old singer-songwriter & a unique eight-string guitarist. She has been writing songs for almost 12 years and has just graduated from Goldsmiths University with a degree in popular music.
Lisbee was discovered by BBC 6Music DJ Tom Robinson when he came across her MySpace page. Describing Lisbee on air as “a serious young talent”, it was Robinson’s subsequent support which led to her single, ‘Red’ eventually being playlisted at Radio 2 in January 2009: only the third ever unsigned artist to be Radio 2 playlisted after Katy Melua and Eva Cassidy. That support from Tom has continued ever since, with Lisbee returning to play a live session on Tom’s show in April in Tom’s words “Wow! Sensational! Absolutely Mint!' The success of ‘Red’ subsequently saw Lisbee making numerous radio & TV appearances, as well as being tipped in the press as ‘one to watch for 2009’.
Lisbee has since been putting the finishing touches to her new album, entitled, 'Girl on an Unmade Bed'. Produced by Rupert Christie (U2, Greenday, Lou Reed, Echo and the Bunnymen) & recorded at Abbey Road, the album is due to be released on 11th January 2010.
Her most recent single, 'Just Like Me' was the Record of the Week on the Radcliffe and Maconie show on BBC Radio 2 in April and is now available to download from itunes and other music downloading webites.
In 2006 she collaborated with Guildford-based producer, Rain, and released her first album, 'Firefly', which you can find on itunes or Amazon. In 2007 Lisbee wrote for and was a guest artist on the album 'Follow' by the band, The Promise - Have a peek in itunes or on The Promise's website: www.thepromise.uk.com.
Lisbee was the first unsigned solo artist to perform in the O2 Arena in 2007, and Lisbee currently gigs regularly, mainly in and around London: some of her favourite venues have included the Kent Music Festival, Norwich and York Cathedral and Brownsea Island, as well as various venues in and around London including The Lockout in Dingwall's and The Green Note in Camden, Westbourne Studios, The Cobden Club, The Albany Theatre, Riverside Studios and the Regal Rooms in Hammersmith. She can also be regularly heard on the airwaves of BBC Radio Worcester and Hereford and COAST 106-106.6 Fm - one of the biggest radio stations on the South Coast, and has played live sessions for both BBC 6Music and Radio 2.
