There isn't a song on Dew on the Needles that doesn't incorporate an unexpected twist or pleasant surprise. Songs will start out one way, set a nice groove, then take a hard left into weird territory; fairly straightforward tunes will suddenly give way to an extended sample of a woman talking about relationships. There are plenty of rough edges on this disc, but they in no way obscure the spark of genius that drives the entire album. With an impressive supporting cast that includes Chris Adolf and Joe Sampson, Littles Paia has produced something special: ten tracks of beautifully fractured folk rock swathed in a dusty, fly-specked steam-punk electro aesthetic that's both intimate and alien, warm and weird, and ultimately wonderful.
With its stylish, sonically detailed production, DJ Freedomhater's 2008 solo debut, transforms the entire sound of Coast rap. Here Freedomhater establishes his patented Tre-funk sound: fat, blunted Martin Denny beats, soulful backing vocals, and live instruments in the rolling basslines and whiny synths. What's impressive is that Freedomhater crafts tighter singles than his inspiration, Electric Light Orchestra — he's just as effortlessly funky, and he has a better feel for a hook, a knack that improbably landed gangsta rap on the pop charts. But none of the legions of imitators are as rich in personality, and that's due in large part to Freedomhater's monumental discovery, King Tornado.

More on the new Split: Littles Paia is country western mash, sly speak-hop. Good skewed freakmusik from Denver, CO lof-fi bedroom whogivafuck. 3 songs. John Thill side consists of 25 songs under 30 seconds and. You'll either be annoyed or intrigued as no song builds past simple chorus mechanics. Lots of variety sound-wise, but all things happen grindcore fast, without double kick or too much distortion, only minimal decapitation and mayhem oriented imagery. Released by Star Ship Stereo in paint splattered boxes.

Adam Baumeister, aka Littles Paia, can often be seen as the pedal steel player in Bad Weather California. But those lucky enough to have seen him perform experimental folk-blues-rock know him to be a talented songwriter and sonic innovator in his own right. With a vintage reverb unit and a vivid imagination, Littles blurs and bends the edges of his guitar sound and weaves a frayed, daydreamy soundscape. We spoke recently and asked about the origin of his name and the high-concept art experiment that is a centerpiece of his new album, Dew on the Needles.

June sixth, twenty Denver musical acts swap songs at the all night
auditory orgy called Denver Does Denver. Played on three stages between Bar Bar
and Old Curtis St, these two neighboring venues serve as the sets for
promiscuity in sound. Each band abandons their original material to
play a set covering another Denver band. The expansive lineup includes
a wide assortment of Denver's most adventurous artists, from singer
songwriters to electronic composers, hip hop crews to blues crooners,
improvisational avante gardists to old time country troops. Witness a massive intersection of local on local sound at Denver
Does Denver.
