You can salivate over the plucky melodies, percussive jaunts, soaring vocals and skillfully crafted crescendos. You can read fistfuls of ecstatic reviews and countless reports of live delirium. Hell, you can be mesmerized by singer and guitar player Taylor Rice's impressive Tom Selleck-channeling 'stache alone. It doesn't matter how you slice it, their powerful debut is a testament to their might (sweet facial hair aside).
Gorilla Manor varies in tone, rhythm and delivery. "Sun Hands" is ever the crowd pleaser with toe-tapping licks and easy call-back refrains, while the tender harmonies of "Who Knows, Who Cares" give the mellow folk something to bob their heads to. Not to join the peanut gallery, but if this is what Local Natives sound like straight out of the gate, we can't wait for their sound to evolve under the red-hot spotlight.
