InfluencesDeadEnd-Jobs, Broken Gear, Caffeine, Dodge Vans, Phasers, Depression, Depravity...and as far as records go: Spacemen 3, Fugazi, REM, Smiths, Swirlies, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Flying Saucer Attack, the Velvet Underground, and the Beatles.
Sounds Like"Lockgroove's dense, full-on sound invites comparison to Brian Eno's "Music for Airports" -- as performed by a fighter jet squadron." -- The Boston Globe

"Sonic alchemists of the highest order, Lockgroove write some of the most elastic, ebullient pop songs since Galaxy 500 and Spaceman 3, only louder... In short, they're the most astounding band to emerge from Boston in quite some time." -- The Boston Phoenix

"The band creates dense cosmic symphonies with layers of head feeding noise" --Spin

"There's nothing like a band that can rock a club with both visceral power and improvisational intelligence, which is what the young band Lockgroove has been all over town for the past year and a half. It has veered far from the path of predictability, and its energized, inventive music has frequently been compared to the likes of Spiritualized and Spaceman 3. But make no mistake, this act is a complete original." --Billboard

   About Lockgroove
Lockgroove is currently rehearsing for an upcoming performance where they will play classic songs from each of their records. Please submit requests by email. In the mean time check out their side projects....

THE BROKEN RIVER PROPHET: Adam's band in which Ryan and Marty often play too! (bass and percussion). Check out the MYSPACE PAGE or THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE for all the info you could ever need or want.

COMPASS: Doom has just pressed his newest CD, "Munchy the Bear" for Sharkattack! Music and will be getting out and about soon. Check out his OFFICAL WEBSITE for details of his comings and goings and shows and tours and record release info. And of course don't forget to check his MYSPACE PAGE.

SHARP DARTS: Ryan and Marty's new band, Sharp Darts, is in the process of recording songs for their first record, The Con, scheduled for release in 2009. What else is there to say? This is going to be amazing so stay tuned for shows and MP3 leaks. Check out the new MYSPACE PAGE and become a friend!

LOCKGROOVE's new record, Calm Right Down, (you can still call it new if its the most recent!) is available all over the country and through numerous websites, including their OFFICAL WEBSITE. Its one of their best so pick it up and help the band eat!

"Four years and a few lineup changes after their debut full-length, Boston space rockers Lockgroove have fundamentally transformed their sound for the better. Largely recorded as a duo by twin brothers Ryan Rex (vocals and guitar) and Martin Rex (drums), 2000's Sleeping on the Elephant Fog featured lengthy and pleasantly shapeless drones that occasionally coalesced into something approaching traditional forms. The far more concise Calm Right Down has plenty of trippy neo-psychedelic atmosphere ("The Suicides" is covered in layers of guitar fuzz that even My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields might find excessive), but the brothers now joined by a stable lineup of musical partners have considerably upped the tunefulness this time around, creating an album's worth of honest to goodness pop songs highlighted by the Velvet Underground-style drive of "Stayed So Late" and "A Million Safe Places," along with the turn of the '90s acid house shuffle "Waste My Time." (Think Stone Roses as remixed by Sonic Boom.) Bands like American Analog Set have spent their careers exploring similar sonic territory, but even on more gentle numbers like the becalmed, piano-based title track, Calm Right Down avoids that group's tendencies toward mere hazy prettiness. A big step up from Lockgroove's pleasant but forgettable debut, Calm Right Down matches memorable hooks to cool sonic textures, amplifying the best features of both." -- AllMusic

I would have thought that AssParty would have been a huge influence on Lockgroove. And I can't believe not even a mention of Meet Steak. Unreal!!!!!
