   About Long Distance Call
Long Distance Call (2003-2007) was a Hollywood, CA based band comprised of singer/songwriter Chip Godwin, guitarist Joe Dancsak, and drummer Darryl Blease. Conceived by Godwin and Dancsak in the summer of 2003, the band was made complete with the addition of Blease, who had previously played with L.A.'s Fuzzcab. From the beginning the band made a conscious decision to play as a bassless trio, and that innovation was continually both admired and questioned. The band's hey day was between the period of September 2003 to November 2005. In this period the band was managed by upstart Evan Volk, scouted by Columbia Records head of A&R Matt Pinfield, offered a deal by Del-Fi Records founder and music industry legend, Bob Keane, represented legally by former A&M Records and Napster legal eagle, Milt Olin and could be seen playing tirelessly all over town - Viper Room, Troubadour, Whiskey a-Go Go, Lava Lounge, The Derby, and the now defunct Club Lingerie were all favorite haunts. Contemporaries on the scene during this time included The Vacation, Vagenius, Killola, Porcelain, and In the Name Of... The singles "Modern Female," "Talkin' California," and "Game Seven" were all played by DJ Mark Sovel on Indie 103.1's "Check One, Two" program, the band was nominated for multiple awards by L.A.'s "All Access" magazine, and were finalists in Sammy Hagar's "Shot at Cabo" battle of the bands. Upon Volk's exit as manager in 2005, despite the band's successful growth to the San Francisco area, they struggled to maintain the vision and energy that saw them standing on the cusp of a breakthrough just months into their existence. After a prolific beginning that saw the release of both the EP "Six Hours 'fore the Dawn, and the ambitious 18-track CD/DVD retrospective, "Yesterday's Gone," lifestyle changes and creative differences stalled the band's attempt at a follow up record. The band's swan song was the aptly-titled single "Poor Nostalgic Me," which is available on itunes and can be heard here on this page for all-time. Chip Godwin continues his work as a singer/songwriter. His debut solo album "Finally Arrived," is set for release in spring 2008. Joe Dancsak is the proprietor of J.Dansack Productions, and Canyon Sound Recording Studio, as well as half of the hip-hop duo The Trailz. Their protege, Nate Sylak, has a release due in 2008 - five song EP, "The Show." Darryl Blease is the occasional drummer for singer/songwriter Jennifer Gail and other L.A. based acts. All three still call Los Angeles home and that's reason enough to believe in a reunion at some point down the line. In the meantime..."Forget everything you know..."

Good point Chip. I think if something similar were said to a woman they would throw your ass out. I had not even thought that much about it really. I still think it's funny the idea of a guy wearing some chick's sweater.
