As the final nails were hammered to the coffin of Reverend Bizarre (1995-2007, R.I.P.), guitar player Peter Vicar, nowadays going by his real name Kimi Kärki, started to follow his vision of a new Doom Metal band. He felt forced to fulfill his need to compose and play this most arcane form of metal in the way it was meant to be, full of intensity, cruelty, heaviness, and force. Still firmly walking in the footsteps of Saint Vitus, Trouble, Witchfinder General, Pentagram and The Obsessed, this new band brings together an international lineup of four devoted metalheads, who have experience from a long list of bands, such as Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre, Count Raven, Terra Firma, Centurions Ghost, Orne, End of Level Boss, Umbra Nihil, E-Musikgruppe Lux Ohr, Weekend Beast and The Path is Clear. *** The first release was a 7" EP THE DEMON OF FREEDOM, released in 2008 by heavier than life Swedish label I Hate Records (http://www.ihate.se/). The EP was based on an old werewolf legend from the island of Hiiumaa, as narrated by Finnish author Aino Kallas (1878-1956) in her novel Sudenmorsian (The Wolf's Bride, 1928). The EP contains three songs, "Hiiumaa", "Becoming One With the Spirit of the Forest", and "Running Into a Burning House", recorded in London, Stockholm, North Carolina and Turku respectively. The band already had Chritus and Milly alongside Peter, but the bass duties were temporarily handled by Jim Hunter, famous for his work for Revelation, While Heaven Wept, October 31 and Twisted Tower Dire. *** When Jussi joined the band as a permanent bass player, the lineup of the band was finally solid. The debut album FEAR NO PAIN (Church Within Records, http://www.doom-dealer.de/) followed in late 2008, just before the first live shows in Central Europe. The album is available on CD and 12" heavy vinyl DLP with hard covers and book. *** Stranger passing by, hear my advice… Look forward to the new offerings for the Elder Gods, and then remain on your knees while the Lord Vicar is slowly preparing the next full-length albums SIGNS OF OSIRIS and GATES OF FLESH. To ease the wait, the band recorded three songs in April 2010 for forthcoming split vinyls. Those limited releases will be available during 2010 and 2011, but are already sometimes part of the band's live set. *** Fiat Ars, Pereat Mundus!
