Lou Brutus, the self proclaimed King of All Mediocre and Rock Radio Rabble Rouser, has been one of the most acclaimed radio hosts of the last two decades.
Through his eleven plus years of national syndication, seven years on XM Satellite Radio and succesful work in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Providence he is an instantly recognized voice to Rock listeners across the U.S.
He has garnered tremendous amounts of positive press for both his intensely creative on air work and his ground breaking original programming… all without ever running afoul of the F.C.C.
He is considered to be one of the finest interviewers in radio. His deep knowledge of music has made him a favorite of artists as diverse as Smashing Pumpkins, Rush, Tool, Slipknot, A Perfect Circle, Metallica, KISS, Rancid, Saliva, S.T.P., Stone Sour, Fleetwood Mac, The Ramones and 3 Doors Down.
His roots in the music community go deep through many genres. He has the ability to move through the worlds of Active Rock, Alternative, Punk, Metal and Classic Rock with a strong understanding of each genre and connections with the movers and shakers.
His nationally syndicated “hardDrive with Lou Brutus” has celebrated its 11th anniversary. It airs on over 115 radio stations each week and has been instrumental in helping to break such platinum level acts as KoRn, Slipknot, and Nickelback. It has become radio’s preeminent Active Rock program. The new weeknight version of the show, hardDrive XL, is also growing in reach and respect.
As Senior Program Director at XM Satellite Radio he oversees progamming for Hard Rock channel The Boneyard, the fire breathing fury of XM Liquid Metal and the Led Zeppelin only channel XM LED. He’s received major kudos for building the nation’s first ever punk rock radio station Fungus 53 along with a dizzying array of microchannels celebrating Halloween, Baseball, Christmas, UFOs, driving and a myriad of other subjects. Additonally, he is a host for XM’s lauded Artist Confidential interview/performance series.
His creative flair has led him to national success as a performer and composer with his own band and his cow punk rock opera Hee Haw Hell. He will also have two baseball songs he’s written and recorded featured on the next Diamond Cuts album in 2008.
He is currently working on two different books. The first is a coffee table book on his backstage pass collection and the second is on the legendary rock band the Dead Schembechlers.
Im a teenager in a cornfield in Wisconsin puking out screaming vocals. Any advice on how to put together a crazy band that will go along with whatever hair brained scary tweenie ideas I come up with? Heard your advice on Ask Lou and you said it takes alot of luck. Should I spend my time in the fields looking for 4 leaf clovers? Check out my disgusting cover of MyChemicalRomance. I was raised on HardDrive, cheese, beer, and bad jokes.
What up LOU? We've just been kickin' it here in MADTOWN hearing you often on the ever rocking JJO. Come listen to The Viscous Circle if you get a moment. Love HARD DRIVE! Keep rockin' it Lou!!!
