First God is my influence for life. He is the fuel to my fire and is the root of these gifts I have. Secondly my father who is a wonderful father foremost and a brilliant muscian/songwriter/producer/manager and everything else. My Uncle Sam & Uncle Teddy have through DayBreakk taught me perserverence and strength. They are all excellent examples of muscians and the dedication that this industry requires is something I see in them continually. My Mother Vanessa Hall who is always supportive even through the "singing in the bathroom for 3 hours" phase. She is my number one fan and I lovve her. Although she cries EVERYTIME i sing. My brother who is a music genius. He has evolved so much and is the best young producer there is. His season is surely here and he is going to be so great very soon. (I'll keep stealing your songs when you're famous though brother). My sister Courtney who although never in the house with me is connected to me like no one else. We share the same musicality! She is lovely and intelligent and she motivates me to do this because our family DESERVES it! My grandparents whom I love dearly. My grandmother Agnes from whom I believe this gift of song flows. My grandmother Roberta who always reminds me that Christ is the reason for everything I am and do. To everyone else in the Hall, Harville, Wright, McNealy, and any other family I can't remember that has touched me and inspired me to continue to write, sing, and play. Sound is too infinite to sound like any one thing.
A decendant of a family full of musical genius,Whitney Hall or Semaj (the name she has decided for her stage name in recognition of her late grandfather James Hall) did not hap upon this life of musicality. As a child she watched her father work with several muscians and artists, the entire span thinking "I can do this". Yet, the time never seemed to be right. High School graduation has come and gone and she is, now, a rising Junior at THE Howard University in Washington, D.C. It seems that this dream of music legend has been put on hold. However, it is the total opposite. She has reached astounding heights during her matriculation at "the Mecca". Her college career has allowed her to expand and heighten her music and scope. She has recently performed on the campus of Howard University, opening for such artists as Chrisette Michele. Her latest acoustic single,"I Love You", has become a favorite among her peers at HU. She is looking to performing throughout the summer months and hopes to have a project ready for release by the fall. Semaj is a lover of live performance and accredites greats such as Prince, Janet Jackson and Micahel Jackson for her appreciation of the art. Her hope is to one day be seen as a great peformer, as well. Moreover, Semaj is working to gain a sound uniquely her own, but totally relatable to her audience. Semaj hopes to ultimately provide her fans with, what she calls, "FEEL GOOD MUSIC". Sprinkled with every genre and flavor of music, her taste is far from finite and it is evident in her writing and her sound. From Classic R&B and HipHop to Rock & Roll, she believes ALL music inspires ALL music. She is enjoying this journey and continues in hopes of making it all the way to the top.
