"Luca Mundaca is a classic example of a talent deserving wider
"recognition. Blessed with a sweetly engaging sound, impressive
musicality and the rhythmic passion of her Brazilian roots, she's a
talent whose songs and singing should be far more widely heard."
-Don Heckman, LA Times music Critic********************************************************************
"Luca Mundaca is a singer and songwriter whose work I have been aware of since she arrived in NYC. Her abilities are unlimited; she has a stunning voice of great intimacy and emotion, and her songwriting is first rate. It is rare to find in an artist both the capacity to write brilliant melodies & profound lyrics, and to then perform them at such a high level of musicianship. She simply has it all."
- Seth Rothstein, VP Marketing, Sony Legacy******************************************************************
The song "Ha Dias" off of her “Day by Day” album has rocketed Luca to both national and international recognition. In 2008, this song won Luca the Independent Music Award in the World Fusion category, was licensed for Putumayo World Music’s album “Brazilian Lounge,” and was featured in the independent film "The Visitor" (whose lead actor, Richard Jenkins, was nominated for an Acadamy Award). Several other songs off of “Day by Day” can also be found on Lovemonk’s “Cappuccino,” Gira Mundo’s “Music of the Present Age” and another Putumayo compilation, “Women of the World Acoustic.”**************************************************************
Luca Mundaca is a gifted singer/songwriter whose sultry voice and memorable bossa nova and samba-fused melodies will take you to the heart of Brazil. Her family moved from Chile to Valinhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil when Luca was just 6 years old, and that move has made an indelible mark on the World’s musical culture.
At the age of 15, Luca was inspired to play the guitar, and although her family was not wealthy, her parents bought her one for Christmas and she taught herself to play. The day she learned her first three chords, she wrote her first song, and from that moment on, Luca has devoted her life to her music. She has written over 200 original compositions, and continues to create a dichotomy of effortless melodies with intricate lyrics that speak to people all over the world.
In 1999, Luca took a leap of faith and moved to New York City to try and pursue her dreams. She was ultimately signed to the independent music label Lumeni Productions. They soon sent her to Brazil to record her debut album “Day by Day,” (which she also produced), and has subsequently received much recognition from some of the top executives in the music industry: **********************************************************************
