About Lucid Lovers

Lucid Lovers' sound is like a hummingbird that just discovered a nectar filled rainbow. Together they create soulful music with heartfelt melodies and thoughtful poetic lyrics. Liquid guitar sounds blend with powerful vocals, giving Lucid Lovers' an honest and uplifting sound. Kristina grew up in Japan and California. She comes from a musical family and started singing at the age of 4 and started teaching hershelf guitar at the age of 9. Singing in front of the mirror, singing along with recordings and the radio, gatherings with friends & family and of course Japanese Karaoke were the outlets for her voice. Dave is from the S.F. bay area and has also lived in Southern California. He has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old. Dave has had the good fortune of studying guitar with the masters, Tuck Andress and Joe Diorio. Dave's style combines elements of rock, blues, jazz, funk and world music. He has played in many different groups over the years and feels that all his musical experiences have led up to writing and playing with Lucid Lovers. In December of 2007, Kristina started writing her own songs, partly due to many frustrating dating situations. She grew tired of the drama and the games. This led to her expressing her thoughts, feelings and experiences through songwriting. She wrote 12 songs in a single month. Kristina then started performing these songs at parties and open mics around town. The positive feedback she received from performing, inspired her to keep writing more and more and perhaps collaborate with another musician. Kristina met Dave at a guitar shop in San Francisco. She walked in to the store only to get her "strings changed". That string change, changed her life. This chance meeting seemed like destiny. Dave's guitar mastery and musicianship partnered with Kristina's lyrics, melody and vocals made the perfect match. Lucid Lovers was formed instantly after they met. Since Dave and Kristina met, they have written well over 30 songs together. Most of these songs are inspired by true love, nature, waterfalls, oceans, dreams, passions and colors in life. Lucid Lovers' bring the audience a sound that is fresh and new, while containing a timeless quality. Audiences have compared their sound to Norah Jones, Cat Power, Regina Specktar with guitar licks & solos influenced by Hendrix, Santana, Jimmy Page and Wes Montgomery. Lucid Lovers' fan base continues to grow and their music keeps rising to greater musical heights. Lucid Lovers' are looking forward to expanding their performances throughout the United States and to performances in Japan in 2010. Lucid Lovers' music is available on iTunes
