Sounds Like
"A punk rock Exile on Main Street with shades of The Stooges, riot grrrl, Pere Ubu, and even The Doors." Magnet Magazine
"If Spivey sounds spacey, she's not. Her songs range from aggressive, screaming punk to beautifully melodic rhythm and blues, the very definition of garage-rock. Like Sleater-Kinney and Bikini Kill -- Lucid Nation has opened for both -- her band's music is raw, poetic, sloppy and infectious, and Tacoma Ballet is simply a bare-bones, kick-ass rock and roll record."
Rolling Stone Magazine
Lucid Nation is a new kind of rock band led by me, Tamra Spivey, zero degree Capricorn artist, writer, and art editor of Newtopia Magazine, musician, and associate producer of The Gits movie. Wiki us: Lucid Nation on Wikipedia
Lucid Nation started out as L.A.'s most popular riot grrrl band, opening for Team Dresch, Sleater Kinney, The Breeders, Tribe 8, John Sinclair, Mecca Normal, Joan of Arc, and Bikini Kill. Next came our incarnation as a peace punk band playing gang truce, Food Not Bombs, AntiRacistAction, and Black Panther events. After that Lucid Nation morphed into a loosely organized improvisational ensemble that hit number 1 on college radio and secondary commercial stations with our 100% freestyle, politically charged recording Tacoma Ballet (which was censored in Tacoma!). An Alternative Press Top 100 Band You Need to Know About. The "band" has included members of Hole, Ministry, Luscious Jackson, Mecca Normal, L7, Team Dresch, Hazel, Midnight Movies, Candiria, The Gits, and Moby's live band. Strictly DIY and dedicated to analog Lucid Nation has turned down major label contracts three times, because corporate music still sucks!

"The Internet is their CBGB. Their territory is global. They will dictate how they want to create and disseminate their work. They will, in time, make breathless changes in our political process. They have the technology to unite and create a new party, to be vigilant in their choice of candidates, unfettered by corporate pressure. Their potential power to form and reform is unprecedented." -- Patti Smith
"What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope to build a better life for their children." --John F. Kennedy
"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds. Your mind transcends limitations, your
consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new,
great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become
alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever
dreamed yourself to be." -- Patanjali
"We will bankrupt ourselves in the vain search for absolute security."
~Dwight Eisenhower
"The average farmworker in the U.S. dies at 47 years old, quite often from pesticide poisoning, and earns about $7,500 a year." John Bowe
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

"Nothing is. There is no final enough of wisdom, experience--any fucking thing. No Holy Grail, No Final Satori, no final solution. Just conflict. Only thing can resolve conflict is love, like I felt for Fletch and Ruski, Spooner and Calico. Pure love. What I feel for my cats present and past. Love? What is It? Most natural painkiller what there is. LOVE." --Last thing written by William Burroughs in his journal three days before he died.
“We cannot measure national achievement by the Gross National Product. For the Gross National Product includes air pollution, and ambulances to clear our highways from carnage. It counts special locks for our doors and jails for people who break them, the destruction of redwoods, the death of Lake Superior. It grows with the production of napalm and mines and nuclear warheads. It includes the broadcasting of television programs which glorify violence to sell goods to our children.” RFK 1968
"We're not going to win this by being funnier than the Republicans." Norman Mailer
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?'
