LUCY WALSH
Lucy Walsh lives and breathes music; it courses through her veins like blood. For other musicians that may be just an expression, but for this 25 year old songstress, natural talent really is genetic.
Walsh was born in Santa Barbara, right into a line of accomplished musicians. Her grandmother, a pianist for the New York Ballet, and her father Joe Walsh, long-time legendary guitarist of the 'Eagles.’ Lucy grew up completely immersed in the performing arts, and decided without a doubt to take over the family business of music. At an early age she began studying classical piano, voice, and music theory...which she continues to this day with a private teacher.
Walsh has frequently been described in the press as a 'prolific songwriter'. Spending most of her time in the studio writing and recording her own songs and songs for other artists, Lucy has honed a sound, a vibe, a voice that seems well beyond her years. This tiny blond continues to crank out powerful story-packed songs, and boasts an ever-growing catalogue of more than 100 recorded to date. 'I am a pianist/songwriter at heart, but I didn't want to give that power for a long time. I thought that to be a 'singer/songwriter' I had to be boring and earthy, and I feel much more fiery than that. I am finally allowing my true style to come through in my music, and it is working...imagine that.' She says.
In no time at all, Lucy has steadily been appearing on the radar of the music world. Her myspace count alone, of well over one million plays speaks for her fast-growing fan base. This is a musician who never slows down; Walsh was the keyboardist/backing singer on Ashlee Simpson's 'Autobiography' World Tour. Then, after making a costly record at Island Def Jam that never saw the light of day, Lucy left the label to zero-in on her own creative direction. Walsh says 'It seems standard these days to have had one or more lost record deals before you break as an artist." She shares close family experience, "My uncle Ringo chats with me about it and says 'You're in the club, the Beatles were passed up about 10 times before we were released'...that's amazing to hear from someone like him, and have been through it myself." Lucy went on to star on MTV's 'Rock the Cradle'...reaping 'Highest Judge's Score' with her cover of Don Henley's 'Heart of the Matter'...which Henley personally gave her permission to do on national television.
Walsh is scheduled to record her long-anticipated debut record this january in LA and Nashville. Release date and full tour schedule will post very soon. And with her musical lineage, and one of the most recognizable last names in rock history, she is well-equipped to handle the ride.
