THE ROCK PREMIER TRAILER
They say determination is an ideology that personifies one’s providence in the success of their own ambitions and vision. It is what separates the dreamers from the achievers in the backdrop of music as well as life. This philosophy is the theme song that plays infinitely in repeat through Luguz’ mind state. Luis Guzman, better known to the world as the flawless wordsmith and artist, “Luguz”, was born on November 2nd, 1983, and was raised in the vigorous streets of Newark, N.J. Growing up in a world overcrowded with poverty and struggle, Luguz was always kept exceptionally level headed and goal-oriented by the optimistic views of his parents.
At the tender age of 10, Luguz and his family relocated to the middle-class area of Elizabeth, N.J. where he found himself with new surroundings and new friends. Dealing with the pressures of his parents divorce and his father’s association to the underworld of drug-dealing, Luguz turned to Hip-Hop music for resolution and therapy. The likes of Wreckx and Effect, GangStarr, Biggie Smalls, and Jay-z were just a few historic hip-hop names that helped Luguz get by as well as introduce him to the unseen talent he had.
Inspired by Hip-Hop and the adversity of his life, Luguz began making his own personal connection into music by writing random rhymes and poems at the age of 11. By the time he reached high school, Luguz transformed from hip-hop hobbyist to Hip-Hop MC. Making a name for himself by battling and freestyles in classrooms he continued pursuing Hip-Hop into his college years when he met another artist and friend by the name of “Offenon”. Using the same format as in high school Luguz and Offenon would trade verses until one day they formed the group “908 Division” and took their music to the next level. It was around the same time that Luguz adopted his name due to the fact that his words and flow spewed out of his mouth like rapid gun fire and with his idea of keeping his music real, the name Luguz is essentially an abbreviated version of his real name, which in essence is a symbol to the realness in his music.
Unfortunately, due to a tragic event from Offenon’s side, 908 Division, which collectively released four albums and sold over 2,000 copies in the time frame of three years, sadly came to an end in 2006. After the countless performances at various venues across the tri-state, and the vast audience of fans, it was time to move on for Luguz.
Showing Independence and Consistency Luguz emerged as a solo artist and took his talent and skills to an all new level. He hooked up with best friend and producer Starscream and put together what is argueably one of the best independent projects of 2007. His first solo Lp "Independent" solidified him as an MC that can touch on every aspect of the spectrum of music. Luguz was able to collaborate with notable artists such as N.O.R.E., Tom Gist from The Diplomats, and Money Malc for this prestigious debut album. Respected by artists from the underground to the mainstream Luguz has accomplished goals that at one time could only be described as dreams in his eyes. Including numerous shows, he was also invited to F.Y.E. at the Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth, NJ to do a special in-store signing and performance. Now the year is 2008 and Luguz feels blessed to see his creativity and dedication take flight into the ears and minds of his newfound fans and supporters. He knows a long road lies ahead in this vigorious but rewarding venture into the music business. Adversity is a faded memory as his determination pushes him a step closer to what he truly deserves. These few words sit in his mind as his mental theme song automatically repeats itself once again. This profile was made at Whateverlife.com! :)
