O Som do Luiza Fria atualmente soa como algo fantasmagórico e demente, como quando um dente seu sai da arcada dentária, aumenta de tamaho e flutua por aí.
A banda nasceu em meados de 2007, como um convite obsceno durante uma festa. Este pacto se espalhou e se entortou até o atual estágio de decomposição: Kel Kill (vocal), Moiirah (baixo/guitarra), Luc (baixo/guitarra), Felipe Rodríguez (bateria). Ao desenvolver o estilo, houve um entendimento por parte dos membros: Deathrock e Post Punk servem como principal influência em comum.
Em termos de referência musical, há similaridades entre o trabalho de Luiza Fria e o de bandas tais quais 45 Grave, UK Decay, Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, Virgin Prunes, Subtonix, Cinema Strange, Phantom Limbs, Crippled Ballerinas... Além de artistas como Edith Piaf e a satírica dupla interiorana dos anos 30, Alvarenga & Ranchinho.
E como que em busca de uma resposta para a pergunta fundamental “Quem é Luiza”, o quinteto não tem pudores ao delirar em possíveis significados para o título que carrega, assim como estimular tal reflexão em conhecidos e desconhecidos. É com este mesmo espírito que a banda compõe seus absurdos – letras esdrúxulas e fantasiosas reveladas ao consciente e subconsciente alheio pelas vias musicais, visuais e performáticas. O mote: irreverência e esquisitice.
Uma demo composta por cinco faixas, de nome homônimo à banda e de produção independente, foi lançada em junho de 2008, e prontamente disponibilizada no Myspace. Em abril de 2009, Luiza Fria participou, com sua música-versão, de um tributo à banda TSOL, coletânea realizada pela parceria entre a banda mineira Escarlatina Obsessiva e o selo underground Zorch Factory, da França. Luiza Fria realizou diversos shows no circuito underground brasiliense, pelas regiões de Taguatinga, Lago Norte, Asa Sul, Riacho Fundo, além de duas marcantes e bem-recebidas apresentações no estado de São Paulo. Obteve boa resposta de um público diverso em tais apresentações. A banda deseja prosseguir o trabalho e divulgá-lo cidades afora.
The band was formed in Brasília (Brazilian capital) during a weird part given in 2007, as an obscene invitation among old fellows. The blending sealed then brought up unexpectable musical results, which has spread and developed itself into its actual line-up: Kel Kill being responsible for the voices, Moiirah and Luc switch the guitar and bass player position, Lex Sothan plays the keyboards, and Felipe Rodriguez is the man behind drums set.
In terms of musical references, there are similarities between Luiza Fria’s music with the one made by bands such as – and these dispense presentation – 45 Grave, UK Decay, Sex Gang Children, Virgin Prunes, Bauhaus, Subtonix, The Vanishing, Cinema Strange, Crippled Ballerinas, Edith Piaf, among others…, beyond not-so-heard-of artists as Alvarenga & Ranchinho, a 30’s deep-rooted duo famous for their macabre and irreverent mid-Brazilian folk tradition.
Setting forth the quest for the answer to the fundamental question “Who is Luiza?” – consider here that “Luiza Fria” in Portuguese means something like “Cold Louise” – the quintet holds no heed in avoiding hallucinating over possible semantic branchings for the person “Luiza” suggested in its title; in a couple of months Luiza has acted out almost every role designed for a problematic human being. And it is hinging around such spirit of incognita that their lyrics are given form and content – awkward and stunning lyrics, complemented by equally odd visual and performatic means.
After a bunch of gigs, the band released a five precious tracks demo, with melodies and lyrics which conquered the brains and throats of fans who follow the band's itinerary.
A whole series of signals assures the real existence of Luiza Fria, according to the band – the project consists in tracing back her steps via simulacrum of her presence by sharp instruments, ruining buildings and a theatrical wish to go to bathroom. Besides the drunkenness of some, the product thereof has been the disappearance of a handbag and a trumpet. Whoever finds it, please contact the band. As well as whoever finds the answer for the (irrelevant) question: Who is Luiza?
