Luke Cissell is a violinist/multi-instrumentalist based in the New York City area. Born in Louisville, KY, Luke began playing music at age five and won early acclaim as both a bluegrass fiddler and classical violinist. Before reaching his teens he had earned state fiddling championships in Indiana and Kentucky, top honors in area concerto/solo competitions, and had given a solo performance for state congress on the floor of the Indiana General Assembly in Indianapolis. Luke has performed, collaborated and recorded with numerous bands, musicians, and singer/songwriters. He has toured Europe with the Princeton University Orchestra, was violinist and founding member of the Nassau Chamber Players and is a member of the Hudson Quartet.
In addition to the violin, Luke is an adept guitarist and slide guitarist, plays mandolin, viola, bass guitar, other assorted string instruments, piano, and sings lead/harmony vocals. Luke lives in Manhattan and has been featured with diverse acts at venues such as The Knitting Factory, CBGB's, The Bitter End, Kenny's Castaways, The Living Room, the Mary Lea Johnson Center for the Performing Arts, and Jack's Coffee. He is currently recording and producing his first album of original solo work.
