I am a composer / improviser / sound designer from Minneapolis, MN. I have lived in some out of the way places like Costa Rica, Lincoln, Nebraska, rural Minnesota, and currently Madison, Wisconsin. This doesn't bother me as much as my coastal-inhabiting friends would think, as I try to tour and travel as much as possible. Keep your eyes out for me in your neck of the woods, a full US tour is being planned for Spring 2010.
Highlights of my compositional/electronic output have included having my piece "Descriptive Data" for bass clarinet and soundfile performed at the 2009 Spark Festival; my piece "The Eyes of the Soul Will Never Betray the Truth of Innocence" appeared on the "Telephono" compilation, featured on NPR's Fresh Air.
I also play in several bands currently: Volcano Insurance (post/prog jazz), El Clan Destino (Afro-Cuban/West African/fusion), Aquarius Rising (free/modern jazz) Expanding Universe (modern jazz) The Ten Sleeps Trio (rock), Rhino Vision (post jazz), Flamethrower (thrash jazz), Great Lord Bat (improvised metal), as well as being a freelance guitarist.
I also co-curate a monthly (soon to be bi-weekly) free jazz and improvised music series at the Project Lodge in Madison. If you are touring through the area and are looking for a venue, drop me a line and let's see what we can figure out!
Hi and thanks for the friendship! Here’s a video from our most recent tour, in March-April. In an attempt to merge traditions of improvisation in Vietnamese and contemporary Western culture, this is a performance of Tu Dai Oán, a traditional Vietnamese song. In this performance with Thanh Thuy (playing the dan tranh), Stefan Östersjö (playing 10-string guitar) and Henrik Frisk (laptop), this traditional tune is overlapped with free improvisation with electronics. The performance is from a Scandinavian tour in spring 2009 with The Six Tones, a Swedish/Vietnamese project merging traditional and experimental music. The video was recorded at Atalante in Gothenburg by Niklas Rydén.

I've changed a lot since my Mills days. But it still inspires me. We shall see how my music progresses. The songs on my page were actually recorded almost 3 years ago, and I am currently working on a new album. I agree that it's fairly basic. But it's a beginning. Loved Mills though, in its exploration of music and form.
