Last year my pal Lunar of Lunar Ensemble fame asked me to sit in on a set at the Saint.  Its always an honor to sit in with this very special group of artful improvisors, and this particular evening was especially off the hook!  Faithfully recorded live to stereo by the Saint's one and only Hinge, this recording captures one of those rare, you had to be there moments that happen so liberally in Asbury Park.  It was a special night and I also had the chance to sit in with the illlustrious Mike Black that same evening.  These are the nights an improvisational based musician lives for - cosmic moments of spontaneous serendipity at play :)

    Please listen!

    About This:

MOONLIT NIGHT  At The Saint ~ Asbury Park, NJ December 16, 2009    Lunar Ensemble, recorded live at the Saint in Asbury Park is produced by Robert Musso (Material, Tom Waits) and mastered by two time Grammy winner Tom Ruff.    Musicians: Greg D (Sounds of Greg D) guitar/q-chord/harmonica; Dave Dreiwitz (Ween) bass, coronet; Sim Cain (Rollins Band) drums; Colie Brice (Asbury's finest) guitar.   This fine CD introduces new songs by a stellar new ensemble. Opening with the power driven, "She Sure Knows," followed by the vibrant instrumental, "Maybe I'll sneak a shot" and their own cover version of Edgar Allan Poe's, "A Dream Within A Dream." And in honor of a dear friend - Erotica King, David Aaron Clark (RIP), - the ensemble finale is Lunar's "Donna in the Summer" incorporating storytelling with excellent musical improvisation accompaniment.   Enjoy -    And check out www.myspace.com/lunarensemble posting of free downloads.    And

    Guys:

I was utterly humbled sharing the stage with you guys. In all honesty, at first listen your music isn't my cuppa tea, but I was definitely enlightened by what I experienced and observed last night.

The mandolin with that freaking crazy wiccan elftronica Greg D was playing shattered the scattered remnants of my feeble mind..

    Thank you..
