About The Love Me Nots: Like a 60s spy-movie theme blasting through an aluminum-siding-covered one-car garage, The Love Me Nots do fuzzy, farfisa-drenched rock like it's 1963 again. Only louder.
Formed in 2006, the band's first two records, In Black & White and DETROIT, were recorded by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Romantics, Dirtbombs) and released on the band's own label, Atomic A Go Go Records. The band has been cited on national and international Top 10 Albums of the Year lists (Village Voice, Austin Chronicle, XM Radio, Phoenix New Times, etc) and garnered four stars and Disc of the Month status by Rolling Stone in France after the band's first European Tour in Spring 2009.
LMN tours the US extensively, appearing live on KEXP (Seattle), KUPD (Phoenix), WFMU (NJ), and KUSF (San Francisco). The single "Give Em What They Want" went into heavy rotation on Little Steven's Underground Garage (Sirius) and was included on the "Coolest Songs in The World Vol 8" comp in 2009. The first two records have recently been re-released on CD by french label Bad Reputation.
LMN records are available at iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, Target, Merchsquad, select independent record stores, and at all live shows.
The Love Me Nots' third record is due for release in September 2009.
"FOUR STARS...Incendiary fuzz riffs, carnival Farfisa organ, feverish female garage vocals... one of the more exciting rock acts of the moment...Laurenne's acid voice - a Grace Slick on amphetamines - floats little sonic bombs that pull you under the electric waves...DETROIT will have you listening the first time through without exhaling, and then you are stuck going back to listen again from side one. Stunningly feverish, Detroit could serve as the soundtrack to a Tarantino film. Disc of the month." - Alain Guivron, Rolling Stone, 5/09
"Top 10 Albums of 2008...DETROIT will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Could just as easily be audition tapes for Nuggets as hit singles. Takes the hook from 'The Munsters' theme, drops it into a pair of go-go boots and blasts it back through a wall of fuzz and reverb. The band is from Phoenix but Detroit is a far more apt title for their attitude, and with this exciting, danceable, rocking garage platter, they’ve earned that association." - Bill Holmes, The Village Voice, 2/09
"Top 10 Albums of 2008." - Greg Beets, The Austin Chronicle, 2/09
"Love Me Nots sound tough and grimy as all get out." - Billboard, 5/09
"With their leggy, go-go-booted singer smacking her Farfisa and purring/shouting demands, this Phoenix outfit turns a geeky garage schtick into white heat." - SPIN
"Immediately drew me in. I'm taken by this. If the gospel according to The Love Me Nots is 'give em what they want,' then this is it. Brilliant." - BBC Radio, 2/09

"Seductive, shimmering, feline, bewitching. A uniqueness that sets them apart from the competition (Detroit Cobras, Bellrays)." - Raw Power Magazine (France), 4/09
