One-time rock-and-rappers, Age oV Reason, have burst back onto the music scene in 2010 with new members, a new style (affectionately dubbed “mutt rock” by the drummer), and a new album oV hardcore alternative tracks featuring studio performance contributions from Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney oV Jane’s Addiction and Sonny Mayo oV Sevendust. AOR’s new self-titled album is the band’s third release and is the debut of the newest incarnation of AOR. With its pulse-pounding rhythms, high octane riffs and gut-wrenching vocals, Age oV Reason is the latest offering from producer and veteran guitarist Mikey Doling (Snot, In Vitro and Soulfly). While the band was founded in Las Vegas in 2005 as a six-man group, Age oV Reason shed three members in 2008 keeping core members Jack Long, Shawn Fortney, and Joey Klaparda and adding vocalist Chris Deak to form a leaner five-man squad. AOR has been lighting up the Las Vegas rock scene ever since.

Chris Deak – Lead Vocals. Chris Deak hails from St. Louis, MO – the city with a handle. A veteran of the St. Louis music scene, he started out as the frontman for a local alternative rock band and has been singing and writing lyrics since the mid-90s. Known for his ability to captivate an audience, Deak is a versatile power rocker whose voice can be as mellow as Jim Morrison’s or as rough as Brad Arnold’s – not surprising since he counts The Doors and Three Doors Down among his influences. There should be a joke about opportunity knocking here, but we can’t think oV one right now.

“Phat Jack” Long – Lead Guitar. Phat Jack is a Las Vegas native who started out rocking the local punk scene in the mid-90s. It was there that he developed his talent as a riff-off artist cranking out big time nasty solos for the angry Las Vegas masses. In his spare time, Long is a glass blower…uh, artisan, and avid vintage guitar collector. We hear he is working on the world’s first set oV glass pack amps. If the high performance mufflers are any indication, the amps should totally rock! Ear plugs not included. Phat Jack’s influences include Jimmy Hendrix, John Lennon and “Dimebag Darryl” Abbott.

Shawn Fortney – Rhythm Guitar, Vocals Shawn Fortney is the founding father oV Age oV Reason. Born in Idaho, the Home oV Mr. Potatohead, Fortney relocated to Las Vegas in 1989. Picking up his first guitar in 1993, Shawn immediately began laying down the deep, crunchy rhythms that would later become one of the hallmarks of the Age oV Reason sound. Shawn’s influences are as mysterious as he is. Oh, he’s mysterious. He’s from Idaho. Ah, Idaho – land of mystery…and potatoes…and Mr. Potatohead.

Joey Klaparda – Percussion, Vocals Joey Klaparda was born and raised in Hollywood, California – where the nuts come from! At the age oV five, Joey got his first set of skins from his father whereupon he promptly “beat it to pieces,” claims Klaparda’s mother. From that point on, his drum kit was his playground and the boom, crash and smack of it were his constant playmates. While the heavy-hitting thunder rolling under the tracks on Age oV Reason is completely fresh, this isn’t Joey’s first trip into the studio. Joey rocked the turn of the 21st with Stephen Perkins’ project band Banyan as a vocalist and as a studio drummer on Instruction’s God Doesn’t Care. But, wait! There’s more! Joey is also an inventor teaming up with Stephen Perkins to create the Go Jo Bag shaker which is being used in music therapy sessions across the nation. Klaparda’s influences include Keith Moon oV The Who, John Bonham oV Led Zeppelin and, of course, Animal oV The Muppet Show.
