Lyndsey Smith is an R&B, Jazz and Soul Singer with a voice that truly comes from pain and triumph. This Jersey Shore native credits artist like Anita Baker, Chaka Kahn, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, EWF, Michael Jackson, but mostly her musical idol, Ella Fitzgerald. Although her passion for singing began at the age of 3, she truly got a feel of performing in the front of people while singing in church choirs. She looked toon eof her closest relatives, Susan Clark, who was prominent '90s singer as an example on how to succeed in this industry. At the age of 10, she sang at the cafeteria lunch table for classmates and has been singing for big audiences ever since. In high school she was apart of every musical group possible, including All-Shore Chorus, 4 musicals, an Acapella Choir and the school's Mass Chorus. She had a very brief stint with opera, but found that her niche was to sing jazz, gospel R&B and soul. While attending college at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, she became the lead vocalist for the school's jazz band. The band traveled to many locations to perform including a small lounge bar named Caton's Castle in Baltimore. It was there that she was dubbed as the God-Daughter of Soul. Which is a name that has stuck with her ever since. Soon after her first marriage and giving birth to her first son, Jacob, that she had a brain tumor, which was removed in 2005, but things soon got worse. After a tumultuous marital separation and finding her eldest son to be diagnosed with autism, she relocated with her husband to the city of Pittsburgh. One more child and a divorce later, Lyndsey decided to get back to her musical roots. She met her current husband, Brandon Smith, and started to make music with him. They wed soon after their son was born in Oct. of 2010 which is said by her to be "the absolute #1 best decision she ever made". Her husband is her biggest fan and now her manager. She, not only gives all the credit to God for giving her a second chance life and this amazing career, but also her family. Especially, her Grandmother for always being her inspiration, her Father with tireless words of love and support, her Grandfather for instilling values and morals and letting her see the true side of musicianship and her husband's parents for stepping in and being her parents away from home and believing in her when she even didn't believe in herself. There are many friends and loved ones who have been her rock along the way and she will not forget them along the way. "This is going to be a wonderful journey, one that will make believers out of the doubters and prove that dreams can and will come true."
