For just over a year The Mabel Rankin Beat Quartet rocked Warsaw, Poland. Comprising Jon Baines, Douglas Lindsay and two invisible llamas called Brian, the band played a series of live shows in and around the Mokotow district of the city. While their live audience mostly demanded exciting covers of seminal 70's and 80's songs, the band did enter the recording studio to lay down some original tracks. That the band has now been split apart - Lindsay remains in Warsaw, Baines has moved to Oxford and the Brians have returned to Peru - does not mean that Mabel Rankin will cease to exist. They will continue as an on-line presence, the songs on this site updated regularly with new solo projects, so that Mabel will continue in a Beatles White Album kind of a way.
The debut Mabel Rankin studio album cannot be too far off...
It’s a pleasure for me to announce that I have uploaded a few hours ago, my latest Musical Piece: KADAYA. Percussions blend with synths and flutes to express a thought, an anxiety we all have within us: with all the shit and stupidity happening around the world, Kadaya is waiting for us to go one step too far: Kadaya (The Acopalypse) is coming.
Please pop by my page to check this new piece (2nd slot of the player), and tell me what you think. Some of you did for NAMAKAT (the previous song) and it was very useful: your comments are very precious and allow me to progress musically.
