"Machetes kidnaps you with an earth-shattering, raucous post-punk work-out infusing elements of glam and early 90's riot-grrrl. Jen is a supercharged combination of Kathleen Hanna and Siouxsie Sioux, as the band unleashes high-speed breakneck fury, reminiscent of the punk-spirit and dive-bomb energy of late 70's CBGBs. Full of sass and no-bullshit bravado--these ladies will remind you that the sleaze, danger, and flash, is not dead."
"Machetes make you want to jump up and down on a sticky dancefloor whilst clutching a plastic pint of beer. Fierce, tight and supercool - enough from the boys with guitars, make way for Machetes."

"THERE'S scant room for scuzzy punk acts in increasingly corporate new music arenas who offer sushi and full facials instead of beer at gigs.
Ontario's Machetes are four girls who should be experienced in the kind of seedy joint where the only thing that smells worse than the toilets is a cap-sleeved man named Clive grazing against the bar.
Fortunately this venue is one such place.
Despite the appalling sound system, it was the ideal stage for the unrelenting barrage of bubblegum-metal and garage punk.
Guitar romps Ace and Black Leather are all about varying degrees of Iggy Pop histrionics while frontwoman Jen is more than likely to flash her lithe midriff in your face.
They consume more Jack Daniels than CO 2 and the drummer's glasses are bigger than her snare, but it's guitarist and Jane Wiedlin-lookalike Alana who will rip the heart out of prepubescent rock'n'roll pups only just discovering their nether regions."

That was a great set at the Steam Whistle Brewery. A breakneck combination of punk, glam, and garage-rock, boosted by a car-crash of dirty riffs and pounding rhythms. A street-smart attitude along with crushing charisma, this four-piece gives rock and roll realness a voice.

Another great gig tonight at the Dublin Castle! I don't think I can make any of the other London gigs in the next week, which is a pain! When are you coming back?
