We make dances. The dances are sometimes funny, often strange, usually not exceptionally beautiful or athletic, except for the moments when they are.
We’ve been making dances since 2004. Our mission statement is:

no to the glamour and transcendency of the star image no to the heroic no to the anti-heroic.
Witness the birth of rockandroll. Build a Baroque machinery. Sleep with the dancers.
Here life is beautiful, the girls are beautiful. Even the orchestra is beautiful.
You’ve got what you’ve got and know what you want, your flaws styled and sold as sex.
Everyone in this room is in this fucking dance.
Will you help me get back in my pants?
Where can melancholia and utopia meet? Small disturbances become minor events.
Ever sung a song you didn’t really know at the top of your voice, led by an accordion player in lederhosen in a room full of your very best friends?
This is a documentary. I get very emotional thinking about it.

We have assembled a crack team of specialists: Our scientist greets you, but her results are anecdotal and not reproducible. A really, really sad poet translates whale songs into English. Grandma gluts herself on Starlite mints. Welcome to the shattering world, a place where children grow old, life baffles you, and the stars are so bright and beautiful you think they might kill you. Sound familiar?
We're pouring nine Mad King Thomas dances into the same pot and boiling down an ocean worth of material. Somehow this translates into a piece about loss, homesickness, nostalgia, confusion, failure, lying, polar bears, death, and other cheerful topics. We'll try to save the world, even though it might not be worth saving. Come for the apocalypse, stay for the laughs. I swear to you most of us aren't depressed, most of the time.

Thank you to everyone who saw "Love Me, Love My Questionable Art". It was pretty much 1,000% fun. We sold out two nights!
We make dances. We make performances we like to call dances. We make jokes. We constantly try to one-up ourselves.
Study for Premium White Morsels ..
The Mad King Himself says:
I am the emblem of dances made. I am the name, I am the man. It is me you want to know. I am three in one like the Catholic God; I am a three-fer like the deal your Jewish grandmother got. I am the maid, the mother and the crone; I am me, myself, and I.
I have tannish brown curly hair (color from Tara "King-Size" King, texture from Theresa "Fun-Size" Madaus), tan skin (????) and very flexible hips (Monica "Clever Thomas" Thomas). I ride a unicorn. I ride my unicorn in the buff. I dream of ninjas disguised as unicorns.
I can be reached madkingthomas at gmail dot com. Send me my mythologies, send me my portraits, send me your fealty. I will feast on it all.
Who I'd like to meet: Other choreographers, people who want to see our dances, people who want to help us move furniture on and off stage, people who want to tell us what they think about dance, people who want to eat soup with us.
dammit, i'm in milwaukee this weekend for a northern soul dj record blowout danceparty and will miss your performance and tara vomiting. Boo. may no circles of glass shatter on your stage.
Thanks for the add. Excerpted from All is Fair so Stop the War by J. Otis Powell! Three: She's vulnerable to an evil that defies analysis. She turns her anger against herself. Figuring out how to survive in such an ethos & how to cultivate a sense of self is what motivates her. How to unleash the secrets, without being devoured is the fuel for her resistance. She might be suicidal without her resistance & too much of her has died already.
She wants to leave evidence that She was here & that She didn't bleed suffer & die unknown, oppressed, & anonymous. The drama She's in has grown tired, the dark edges are bitter, poison; imitations of worn out fantasies blur & too many clichés carry a virus. Somehow She must learn to cultivate this solitude. She can no longer sit; She's up! She's out among us tattoos Vs in the air. She's dancing out of her constrictions among cowards, thieves & villains. She's dancing to meet new appointments & other dimensions She's living in an organism of a new self awareness. She flows like lava now determined to be more than on time but to be authentic in it.
Your show was so, so good in a delightful number of ways. My mom and I found ourselves discussing the range of subject matter for a long long time. More. More! MKT should come to Jitters this Thursday.
