Like a Circus, Only Death (Mad King Thomas)

With one eye on our well-trained middle class values, and the other staring at the car crash in the street, we claim that one thing that will make us more than we are. Like a Circus, Only Death is a comedy, a tragedy, and a dance. It's high drama about the dirt and the spectacle, the makings of everyday life. We're investigating the sexy underbelly of our violent ideologies. Or the violent underpinning of our glamourized values. Either way, there are sparkles, death, and red balloons."

We're sharing the bill with:

"Lamb Lays With Lion vs. Katie Mitchell's The Seagull":
Refines our methods for the Theatre of Disruption with a premiere work-in-progress showing of our staging of Chekhov's "The Seagull," inspired by the British auteur-director, Katie Mitchell. The production has two casts who cohabit the stage and simultaneously perform, which amounts to 19 actors acting their hearts out against disruption.

SuperGroup "Shouldwetitleitnoworwait":
"is a contemporary musical." Four elements-design, text, music and movement- are divided amongst the four members, with each in charge of one. It is "a process of creation that is new to us. The meaning or matter of anything we make is heavily influenced by how we make it, and that is part of why we do it.

Thank you to everyone who saw "Maybe". We didn't mean to make a play, but we did! That's how it goes sometimes.

We make dances. We make performances we like to call dances. We make jokes. We constantly try to one-up ourselves.

The Mad King Himself says:

I am the emblem of dances made. I am the name, I am the man. It is me you want to know. I am three in one like the Catholic God; I am a three-fer like the deal your Jewish grandmother got. I am the maid, the mother and the crone; I am me, myself, and I.

I have tannish brown curly hair (color from Tara "King-Size" King, texture from Theresa "Fun-Size" Madaus), tan skin (????) and very flexible hips (Monica "Clever Thomas" Thomas). I ride a unicorn. I ride my unicorn in the buff. I dream of ninjas disguised as unicorns.

I can be reached madkingthomas at gmail dot com. Send me my mythologies, send me my portraits, send me your fealty. I will feast on it all.

Who I'd like to meet:

Other choreographers, people who want to see our dances, people who want to help us move furniture on and off stage, people who want to tell us what they think about dance, people who want to eat soup with us.
