   About Magicfolk

Unique Myspace Layouts

PSYCHEDELIC, FOLK, PROG-ROCK, ESOTERIC / PAGAN, AMBIENT

"Like the bright sun burning through the morning fog, Magicfolk come bearing tradition, vision, passion and mysticism" (EXPOSÉ MAGAZINE)

Since their inception as a quiet, well-behaved acoustic trio back in 2003, Magicfolk have become increasingly wild and erratic with the addition of bass, drums, sax, soaring electric guitars, flutes and keyboards.

Now a leading UK psych-folk band, Magicfolk produces its own fusion of rock, folk, celtic and prog-rock with rich vocal harmonies, in songs with mythological and mystic leanings.

“Genuinely something new for fans of esoteric folk, their lyrics sing of folklore and magic, evoking the mystery within the music” (WOVEN WHEAT WHISPERS)

"A raft of magical spells, a silver blade wrapped in lace" (FOLKWORDS)

Grounded in acoustic instrumentation, their songs often develop into raucous rock, jazz and psychedelic improvisations. They also have gentler songs which take you to other more restful places.

“Hugely evocative” (FIREWORKS MAGAZINE)

"Delicately spun… visiting the perfumed garden of 60s psychedelia." (ROCK ‘N’ REEL MAGAZINE)

"Pink Floyd meets the Mediaeval Baebes" (WHITE DRAGON)

"The music is infectious... it's impossible not to move your feet" (TILTING SKY MAGAZINE)

Best wishes from Fruits de Mer Records, a small but almost perfectly-formed new psych/folk/prog label.

Check out our site for old and new videos, all the latest news on our first single (Small Faces' Ogden's Nut Gone Flake meets Van der Graaf Generator's Theme One - both by the brilliant Schizo Fun Addict - a very limited coloured vinyl pressing, just 300 copies worldwide), along with a few random live reviews, very old jokes and all manner of stuff - PLUS early news on our next project, with Mellow Candle's Alison O'Donnell, featuring a cover of a classic Nick Drake track!

Hope you and your friends enjoy the site and what we're doing, do let us know!

Just posted - Record Collector magazine's review of our first single (and - thank you, god - they love it)

Cheers from FdM2 www. myspace.

But ask now the beasts,
and they shall teach thee;
and the birds of the air,
and they shall tell thee:
Or speak to the earth,
and it shall teach thee:
and the fishes of the sea
shall declare unto thee.
