Magic Mirror make music to be listened to late in the evening, when such music is truly necessary. Songwriter Matthew Lindgren left Los Angeles to live in Spain for five years to gather inspiration from the bottoms of absinthe bottles, and returned with a collection of songs (recorded with help from friends in The Warlocks and The Brian Jonestown Massacre) variously described as “Spiritualized with Spanish guitars,” “Leonard Cohen fronting the Bad Seeds”, “Elvis, but only Elvis at Sun”, “The resurrection of Cash”, or “Breakup songs for brokedown people.” Magic Mirror strongly encourages you to listen for yourself.
Fervent and romantic believers in the power of throbbing vintage organ seeping through reverb soaked guitars and haunted vocal harmonies delivering a beautiful, though bitter sermon, Magic Mirror offer songs to touch nerves in new ways and to help those who need help in the dark.
Despite having only recently solidified as a live band based in Los Angeles, Magic Mirror has played concerts in Europe and toured with the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and played with Dead Meadow, Spindrift, and The Lilys in the United States.
The debut album, Champagne and Hostages, will be released in the spring of 2008, label to be determined.

L.A. Record Magazine: “Magic Mirror left me with bruised lips and hips. This is pretty freaky rock-n-roll with dry, wry lyrics like Cohen and Cave. The voice of singer/guitar player Matt Lindgren brought to mind a young Shane MacGowan or Ray Davies. Fresh off a few recent opening dates for Black Rebel Motorcycle club, Magic Mirror is one to reflect on. (ZZ)”
oh come on matt, would I seriously shove a pilot out of a small sea plane just so i could have complete control? me? well?...mabye...? your senario isn't comepletely off track, sadly. tami
The slide is probably the best tool for a guitarist who loves the blues but also the most underrated.
I've been studying SRV's technique and the man was a god! A guitar god! The reason I love your music so much is because the lyrics add to the music... I mean The music sets the mood and the lyrics become your companion.
I love how you keep the simplicity of blues in your music and don't feel like you need to have an electro remix to be cool.
Out of all the bands that I've had a chance to interview or singers your words stood out the most in a really good way.
Ya lo creo que me gustaria veros en directo! A ver si volveis pronto a España. Me encanta como sonais, desde los primeros acordes de A Free Man ya he sabido que me ibais a gustar. Give me a shout when new album is out.
Hey Matthew! Just wanted to say your music is still helping me get over "the one"... Jerusalem Syndrome has been my bestfriend at around 3am several months (pathetic I know).
