Main Source started as 4 members. K Cut, Sir Scratch, J.O.D, and Large Professor (Note: On their first single "Think" L.P. says, "The Mad Scientist J.O.D." ). Eventually dwindling to 3 members, the group went hard in the studio coming up with hip hop classics like "Looking At The Front Door", "Just A Friendly Game Of Baseball", and "Live At The Barbecue". Their first album "Breaking Atoms" was a scientifical breakthrough in sample based production. With Large Professor at the helm, the group released an instant classic in January 1991. Along with the group's performance alone, came featured artists Nas, Akinyele, and Joe Fatal-all who've taken their careers to different levels of success. After management qualms, Large Professor decided to work as a solo artist, and was then replaced by Mikey D (Early Hip Hop Pioneer Queens MC and 1988 M.C. Battle Champion). The group's second album "Fuck What You Think" spawned the single "What You Need" whose groove Madonna later sampled. That album also featured an early L.O.X. performance by Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. Shout out to Paul "C" McKasty (The engineer responsible for the original Main Source group's know how). Peace (Is Not The Word To Play)
