Manboy arrived on the scene to a hero’s welcome. In a northern European landscape dominated by Love Metal, Death Metal, Warrior Metal, and Tango, the soaring, chiming melodies and everlasting textures of the band’s “Majestic” album were greeted with open hearts and ears by those who love the taste of thoughtful, anthemic guitar-led songs.
Manboy is made up of three school friends who in their early years devoured the work of artists such as The Cure, Joy Division, Nick Drake, Bowie and AC/DC, eventually arriving at their own destination and sounding like a band that has always known its own worth. "Majestic" is the third album by the 3-piece and is the most rounded and perfect example of what Manboy is all about to date. Lead single, “Please Stop Crying”, is a shining slice of Manboy at its most accessible. It’s a glorious collision of cool rhythm, stylish guitars, sing-a -long lyrics and a pop chorus to die for. The track was even used – with a big kiss of irony – to advertise the quest to find the latest Finnish Pop Idol. The thought of watching dozens of wannabe pop princes and princesses having their dreams of stardom smashed to pieces to the soundtrack of “Please Stop Crying” was hard to resist for a band that values a deeper level of artistic ambition and integrity than what is offered through our mainstream media these days.
Manboy is a band that somehow manages to sound even bigger live than on record. Through touring with the likes of Placebo, Muse and Suede, the group has honed its sound into a definitive, strong attack on the senses that will leave an audience uplifted and filled with wonder. One minute there is a delicate, intricate and slow burning passion to a performance, followed by the band whirling and hammering through a monster chorus or two that sees the crowd unable to stop itself from participating in backing vocals, air punching, and hand claps.
It is only a matter of time now until you come across the band yourself, either through hearing the song on the radio, seeing the video on tv, or reading further glowing reports throughout the media. For a taster you can join the band in cyberworld, where a growing following is quickly letting its feelings be known that this is the kind of music that people want to listen to, be absorbed in, and live their lives to. It seems like Manboy is here to save us from ourselves and we should be thankful for that.

Millai muute 2009 – vaihtoehtomusiikki valtaa Porin Teatterin elokuussa!
Millai muute 2009 on tapahtuma, joka esittelee tasokasta musiikkia ja kulttuuria valtavirran ulkopuolelta Porin Teatterin juhlallisissa puitteissa. Millai muute panostaa erityisesti porilaisen, eri puolilla Suomea ja maailmaa mainetta niittäneen, omaperäisen rock-musiikin esilletuomiseen uniikilla tavalla. Tapahtuma järjestetään 29. elokuuta 2009. Ovet aukeavat yleisölle kello 19, ja tilaisuus jatkuu puoleenyöhön asti.
