"Mandi Perkins is the new frontier when it comes to females that rock; she’s unfiltered, unedited, and is a “true” artist - Her lyrics are 100% her life and I’m excited for the rest of the world to hear what I know will be one of the best new rock acts in years.” - Ryan Tedder (From One Republic)
"Mandi Perkins is undoubtedly one of the freshest, most prolific songwriters to hit the U.S from our North American neighbor. Consistently delighting audiences with her enthusiastic performances, her "take no prisoners" attitude, and her contagious melodic rock, Perkins is set for fame." -- BMI
"The Next Alanis!" -- Cosmo Girl
"(Mandi's) at the top of the talent list and definitely worth checking out live. It won’t be long before someone swoops up this dynamic star ..." -- Hits Magazine
Hey Guys!
I used to have this crazy long bio on here, but then realized that it would be much more effective to lay it out in quick bursts; after all, there is something less than appetizing about long chunky verbose paragraphs, with 86 extra adjectives. See what I mean!
So here is my point formed autobiography:
-- I was born in Toronto, Ontario. Grew up listening to classic rock bands and singer/songwriters. Went to a camp where we basically slept in the woods. Loved it. Lived there for most of my life until I left to attend school at UC Berkeley.
-- Moved to the US alone, knew absolutely no one. Made friends with some chess players on Durant, studied a lot of British authors and graduated with Honor’s in English Lit.
-- A week after graduating college, I moved to Los Angeles to attend Law School, while simultaneously pursuing a career in music. This is harder then it sounds ;) Started doing yoga, Pilates, eating sushi and wearing 50-sunscreen at all times. Got my first band together, played open mic nights at some less than stellar clubs and released my first EP.
-- Took a lot of hard work, but established an Internet presence and global fan base.
-- Started playing bigger clubs in LA and slowly began understanding the “industry,” toured a bunch around the country, playing to some packed houses and passed the California Bar.
-- Had songs licensed to a bunch of different TV shows. MSN Music featured me as their “One To Watch” artist and Yahoo Music named me one of their “Who’s Next” artists. Appeared in Billboard Magazine and was featured on the cover of Music Connection Magazine. Good times.
-- Just finished a six week co-headlining tour of North America this summer. Currently writing a ton of new material, some with a few very well renowned songwriters and producers. Cannot wait to release what I have coming next. I have also been writing material for some very well known artists, some of that material should be coming out soon.
-- Have been described as, “The girl next door, only louder…” Kind of like it.
