Manouchka Orkestär est une formation métissée du Sud de la France aux couleurs jazz manouche, musique tsigane roumaine et musique des Balkans. Les morceaux, riches de nombreux horizons musicaux, voyagent parfois du reggae-ska à la samba, en passant par le jazz et bien d'autres encore. Cependant, l'influence des pays de l'Est n'est jamais bien loin et finit toujours par se faire sentir dans leurs comositions.
En 2004, Sébastien Truchi (violoniste) et Nicolas Saibene (guitariste) montent une première formation nommée « Manouchka » avec laquelle ils feront un grand nombre de concerts en région PACA, partageant ainsi l'affiche avec des artistes tels que Boban Markovic Orkestar, Rageous Gratoons, Poum Tchack, Rona Hartner, la Fanfare du Belgistan, Mango Gadzi…
Puis en avril 2008, la formation se modifie, s'agrandit, s'embellit, pour devenir « Manouchka Orkestär »: guitare, accordéon, contrebasse et batterie qui swinguent rencontrent alors violon, clarinette, flûte traversière qui tziganisent! Tout ce qu'il faut pour un mélange détonant!
Trois mois d'existence seulement et le Manouchka Orkestar est invité à se produire pour son quatrième concert sur la scène Matisse du Nice Jazz Festival 2008 aux côtés de Jean-Luc Ponty, Nigel Kennedy, Lenny White, Chick Corea, Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke et Oregon.
Un an plus tard, c'est en première partie d'Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra ("Le Temps des Gitans", "Arizona Dream", "Lavie est un miracle", etc.) au Théâtre de Verdure de Nice devant plus de 2000 personnes qu'on les retrouve! Aujourd'hui, Manouchka Orkestär se prépare à entrer en studio pour y enregistrer son premier album en octobre 2009.
Un départ en … « fanfare » pour une nouvelle formation pleine d'espoir!
Biography
Manouchka orkestär is a hybrid band from the south of France with sonorities coming from Romanian gypsy music, gypsy jazz and music from the Balkans.
Their pieces, originating from many musical backgrounds go from Ska-Reggae to Samba or Jazz and many other styles. However, an influence from Eastern European countries is never really far and always shows in their compositions.
In 2004, Sebastien Truchi (violinist) and Nicolas Saibene (guitarist) created a band called “Manouchka” with which they’ll give many concerts in the South-East of France, sharing the stage with artists like Boban Markovic Orkestar, Rageous Gratoons, Poum Tchack, Rona Harner, la Fanfare du Belgistan, Mango Gadzi, etc.
Then, in April 2008, the band changed, grew larger and more beautiful to become “Manouchka Orkestär”: guitar, accordion, double bass and drums swing happily mingling with the violin, the clarinet and the flute to bring in the gipsy sound! All is there for a stunning mix!
For its 4th concert and after having existed for only three months, “Manouchka Orkestär” were invited to perform at the Nice Jazz Festival 2008 along with J.L Ponty, Nigel Kennedy, Lenny White, Chick Corea, Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke and Oregon.
A year later, they performed for the 1st part of Emir Kusturica and the No Smoking Orchestar’s concert ("Gypsies Time", "Arizona Dream", "Life is a miracle", etc.) at the “Theatre de Verdure” (an open air theatre) in front of more than 2000 people. Today, Manouchka Orkestär is getting ready to record their first studio CD in October 2009.
In short, a jazzy start for this new band full of hopes.
