MAPS is an instrumental rock band that incorporates mixed meters and non-traditional songwriting in their music, setting them apart from many of their post-rock counterparts. Our goal is to create an experience for listeners to engage in aurally, visually and physically. MAPS formed in Nashville, TN in February 2005 and began the journey of creating our sound in a town where instrumental music is virtually non-existent and unsupported. Within a year MAPS had played with post-rock favorites Foxhole and Unwed Sailor and released our first demo titled “The Occidental EP” in February 2006. From there regional touring took place and we recorded and released our first full length album “Oh, That Our Heads Were Waters” in November 2006. In 2007, momentum continued as MAPS embarked on several weeklong tours around the South, Midwest and East Coast while sharing the stage with Caspian, Constants, Gifts from Enola and Cinemechanica among others known in the instrumental/post-rock scene. In the fall of 2007, MAPS began writing for our second-full length record. Immediately we realized this would not be a typical post-rock record. Gone were the ambient soundscapes of previous songs and in its place were thicker, more up-tempo arrangements. We wrote material to better represent our energetic live show and the end result is the songs you now hear on our music player. MAPS officially released their second full length record "The Wick and The Fire" on June 10, 2008 through Crossroads of America Records. Follow us as we continue our journey to make instrumental music known in Nashville and climb the ranks of today’s post-rock acts.
If you have questions about our music, booking or anything else please send us a message. If you like the songs that you hear, please tell a friend. This band wouldn't exist without your support, so thanks for listening!
Hello rock friends! This is Eric from Indie Vision Music. I just got the chance to review your record. If anyone's interested in reading said review, they can kindly click here. Or meanly click here, I guess, but I would prefer kindly.
Hey Guys! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing and to see if there is anything that Gyroscope can help you with. I'm still doing the advertising for HM Magazine and Cornerstone Festival and we now have a network of people that are working with us. I have contacts with people that do demo work, bio and copy work, graphic design, etc. Please give me a shout if you need anything. We'd love to help anyway we can.
