María Elena "MARIEL" MARTINEZ nace en 1980 en el barrio de Villa Crespo, Buenos Aires. Radicada en Madrid desde el año 2002, acaba de editar su primer álbum solista.
En el disco titulado "DE MI BARRIO", se encuentra acompañada principalmente por el guitarrista ALEJANDRO PICCIANO y está producido por el prestigioso LITTO NEBBIA, para el sello Melopea en Argentina y Factoría Autor en España.
En él participan también TANCREDO en el violín y CARLOS QUILICI en el bandoneón.
"DE MI BARRIO" fue presentado en Madrid oficialmente en diciembre de 2008 en la sala "Clamores", y también en Paris y Berlin.
Actualmente están de gira por distintas ciudades de la Península Iberica presentando su trabajo discográfico.

HISTORIA
Comienza sus estudios de canto en el Conservatorio de Música 'SADEM' ( Sindicato Argentino de Músicos). Al mismo tiempo comienza la Carrera de Instrumentista en guitarra tango en la Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda, donde estudia hasta su llegada a España. Durante esos años estudia técnica en guitarra a cargo del maestro 'Chocho' Ruiz y afianza su estudio e interpretación del tango tomando clases particulares con la cantante Patricia Andrade. Forma en Buenos Aires un duo de tango y canta como solista en un cuarteto de folclore Argentino.
Desde su radicación en Madrid, Mariel Martínez y Alejandro Picciano van desarrollando lo que finalmente se engloba en su primer disco “De mi Barrio” grabado en 2008, producido por Litto Nebbia y editado en Octubre de 2008 por Melopea / Factoría Autor.
Abordan principalmente el género Tango Canción, aunque grandes acentos diferencian sus versiones de las originales, una guitarra “jazzera”, un violín eléctrico y la interpretación tan personal que genera la suma de músicos que provienen de distintos géneros.)
Participan además junto al grupo teatral Primigenius en 'Cuentos, tangos y tongos...así se llama la milonga' y en el espectáculo infantil 'Canticuentos'.

HISTORY
She started her singing studies at the Music Conservatory 'SADEM' (Argentine Trade Union of Musicians). At the same time, she started the instrumentist career in tango guitar at the Popular School of Music of Avellaneda, where she studied until her arrival in Spain. During those years she studied guitar technique in charge of the maestro 'Chocho' Ruiz and also consolidated her study and interpretation of tango taking particular lessons with the singer Patricia Andrade. In Buenos Aires she formed a tango duo and sang as a soloist in a quartet of Argentine folklore. Since their residency in Madrid, Mariel Martínez and Alejandro Picciano have been developing what it is finally comprised in their first album called “De mi Barrio”, recorded in 2008, produced by Litto Nebbia and published by Discos Melopea / Factory Author in October 2008. They mainly tackle the Tango Song genre, although there are grate accents that distinguish their versions from the original ones: a “jazzy” guitar, an electric violin and the so personal performance which is created by the sum of musicians from different genres.
They also participate together with the theatrical group Primigenius in 'Cuentos, tangos y tongos...así se llama la milonga' (stories, tangos and tongos...that is the name of the milonga) and in the children’s show 'Canticuentos' (Singstories)
