Mark Olson performing "Salvation Blues" at Mo Pitkins, May 2007:
Video by Ray Foley
Mark Olson was a founding member of The Jayhawks, the most acclaimed band to emerge out of the alt-country scene. He left the Jayhawks in 1996, after the release of the band’s biggest-selling album, Tomorrow The Green Grass, but continued to record music with his new band, The Creekdippers, at his new home in the California desert.
Mark recently finished recording his first true solo album, The Salvation Blues, with producer Ben Vaughn. A deeply personal album, Mark’s voice and poetic lyrics are complemented by Vaughn’s gorgeous musical backdrops featuring the work of some of LA’s best studio musicians. The album also features the long-awaited reunion with his former Jayhawks bandmate and writing partner, Gary Louris, on three songs.
The Salvation Blues is now available! Find the album at a retailer near you or online at these locations:
that was so fun seeing you & gary @ the new west party @ sxsw...the new songs are just wonderful. and i think i'm totally going to the 4.13 club congress show; been too long since i was in tucson. :)
Thanks for the add...spent a lot of time walking around, listening to Salvation Blues. Some nice ideas like "coming to fetch your Carol after wandering in the muck, like declaring that while "Some came here to die, we came here to live."...and that song about mercy and grace...hard to go wrong with mercy and grace.
I do not want what I deserve, I want grace...don't want to be stuck in the "lost and found" box.
Hi Mark, I haven't heard nothing from you for a long time. How was the Europen tour this year? Unfortunately all gigs were to far from my home! I hope you will come to Germany soon!
I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
