Hailing from Upton, on the Wirral, Mark Roberts represents true, unfaltering folk music. His use of altered tunings and celtic melodies provide a soothing and altogether ultimate acoustic music experience. The complexed and drifting arrangements which have become a trademark show the dedication he has put forth into studying the styles of his musical heroes Ralph McTell, Kathryn Williams and Dougie Maclean to name a few.
The music Mark writes is highly narrative, each song telling a story. It is beautiful music, infused with a wistful melancholy, and the addition of his haunting vocals on such songs as 'The Leaving of Eli', and 'The Curlew Song' put him at the front line of young folk musicians today.
The song ‘Angela’ was his first commercial release on Chromium Records on the ‘Showcase International Album 2004’ and was released In March 2004. After an extended break, Mark is now preparing for what looks set to be his most succesful year yet, with several more releases planned and a soundtrack in production.

Album Review by FATEA
There are singer/songwriters and there are wordsmiths. It's a fine distinction between the two, particularly when the tracks are recorded with just voice and guitar. For me Mark Roberts falls into the latter category. It's the words and narrative that drive his songs forward. Yes he can play guitar, very well as the instrumental "He Fell Asleep" proves, but predominantly the music provides accompaniment to the lyric, rather than as an equal part. It's an approach that works well, it gives a mellow and reflective edge to the work and helps give the album a distinct fell. Definitely worth a listen.

Lovely set at the Red Lion on Wednesday! Sorry I didn't hang around for the second set but I was super sleepy! he he! I just love your voice! Hope to see you again sometime!
Cheers 4 the add Mark & thanks 4 lookin us up - sorry it's taken us a while to accept, we've had rather a lot of requests recently - hope u enjoyed the music? we certainly enjoyed yours! keep in touch...
I got your lovely album and I finally cooked your lovely soup - it goes a remarkably long way for a squash!
Actually it was a great pleasure, like long ago soup from when I was a kid. It's ages since I've had that really comforting soup - because my dad's soup was always full of chicken!
I apologise for being cheesy, but I can't help feeling that the real soup is like the real music. Even for those of us who've moved on from liking chicken.
