Christy Moore, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Shane MacGowan, Jimme O'Neill, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, John Lee Hooker, BB King, The Fureys, lots of traditional Irish musicians. The single biggest influence on my music has to be my Dad, who turned me onto so many different styles and genres I would otherwise not have listened to. He also gave me the courage and confidence to believe in myself enough to give it a go.
Sounds Like
If you listen to Mark's music you will hear his influences coming through in one form or another. Some Knopfler arpeggios, a Gilmour double bend here and there, a Christy vocal, and a Dylan lyric. Not a bad template I'd say.
Singer, Songwriter, & Guitarist, Mark Ryan is 37 years old, and comes from Glasgow, Scotland. Since he was 19 he has played in several of the country's top covers bands, such as 'Raise The Roof' & 'After Midnight'.
After going back to college in August 2006 to do a traditional music course, Mark released his debut album 'Wake Me In Summer', which has so far sold over 5,000 copies independently.
He has just released his 2nd solo album 'Goodbye Bobby Sands' which is a mixture of some of his favourite folk music covers, as well as original songs.
