Todo empezó en Palma de Mallorca en 2005, cuando Guillermo escribe unas cuantas canciones con la única finalidad de tocarlas en casa con los supervivientes de su anterior grupo: Riviera. Simó, Gloria, Marina y Guillermo crean una nueva banda llamada MARLO y deciden grabarlas y experimentar un poco con los únicos recursos de los que disponen en el local.

Así es como nace su primera maqueta. Cuatro pequeñas canciones pop, encuentros entre felicidad y melancolía, con las que intentan enfatizar armonías vocales y melodías pegadizas, y que recogen algunas buenas críticas en los medios especializados.

Animados por los comentarios positivos escriben algunas canciones más, conservando la filosofía original de "hazlo tú mismo", pero tratando de llegar un poco más lejos. Una mayor colaboración en las tareas compositivas y un poco más de experimentación con sintetizadores y estructura de las canciones dan lugar a las seis nuevas canciones que conforman su segunda maqueta “Once again, with feeling” (2006).

De esta segunda grabación son las tres canciones que llevan a Marlo a ser uno de los semifinalistas del prestigioso Proyecto Demo 2007.

También aparecen en las listas del Pop Eye 2007 como una de las mejores bandas de indie pop del año. Después de acaloradas discusiones deciden cambiar el nombre del grupo por MARLOVERS . Ese es el nombre que irá impreso en su nueva grabación: "The right way to love" (2007) . Y es de esta última grabación hasta la fecha de donde se extraen las tres canciones que les llevan a las semifinales del Proyecto Demo por segundo año consecutivo.

It all started in Palma de Mallorca in 2005, when Guillermo writes a couple of pop songs with the only idea of playing them at home with the remains of his former band Riviera. Simó, Gloria, Marina and Guillermo create a new band called MARLO and decide to record them and experiment a little with the only resources they have at their playing room.

This is how their first demo get born. Four little pop songs, mixing happiness and melancholy, emphasizing vocal harmonies and catchy melodies, that garner some good reviews in the media.

Encouraged by the good comments they write some more songs, keeping the original do-it-yourself philosophy but trying to go a little further. A more collaborative writing and a little more synths and song structure experimenting give birth to six new songs that form their second demo “Once again, with feeling” (2006).

From this second recording are the three songs that lead Marlo to be one of the semi finalists of the prestigious Benicassim Festival demo contest in 2007.

They also appear as one of the Pop Eye 2007 best indie pop bands. After heated discussions they decide to change the band name and call themselves MARLOVERS . That's the name that will be printed on their next demo "The right way to love" (2007). As a second consecutive year, with songs from this last demo so far, they turn to be again semi finalists of the Benicassim demo Contest in 2008.
