Ces contrats étaient attendus. Les sous-marins représentent aujourd'hui une bonne partie de l'activité de l'ex-arsenal. « Le contrat de maintenance que nous venons d'obtenir pèse 500 personnes par an, indique-t-on à DCNS Brest. Au total, 1 300 personnes vivent ici de l'activité SNLE. » À Brest, DCNS emploie au total 2 700 salariés. Inexorablement, même si l'entreprise continue à recruter, les effectifs diminuent d'une centaine de personnes par an. ... Casting steady shadows upon the floor on which they stood. The professor mingled through them. Observing each one with scrutiny. Then, rubbing the stubbles on his head he clearly voiced for the lights to rise to medium exposure. A slight hum filled to room as the human features of all present became more obvious in the rising clarity.

Unfortunately, they are right. Having opted out of political discourse, they are not susceptible to any suasion. Rationality won't work because their arguments are faith-based rather than evidence-based. Better message control won't work. Improved strategies won't work. Grass-roots organizing won't work. Nothing will work because you cannot convince religious fanatics of anything other than what they already believe, even if their religion is political dogma. You cannot beat religion with politics, which is why the extreme right "wins" so many battles. The fundamentalist political fanatics will always be more zealous than mainstream conservatives or liberals. They will always be louder, more adamant, more aggrieved, more threatening, more willing to do anything to win. Losing is inconceivable.
