MASKKOT is a loud, heavy, agressive but yet melodic band formed in 2007 on the wreck of another band that has been well known on the russian alternative music scene since 1995.
MASKKOT is a band with one foot rooted in 70's hard rock/metal, yet realizes that a new era of live guitar music is ready to burst out again, like it happened in the early 90..s.
Their respect for the massive live abandon of hardrock/rhythm..n..blues/metal guitar riffs fused together with modern grunge/hardcore/newmetal trends gives MASKKOT their own rhythm/sound base.
The word MASKKOT basely means what you hear when you pronounce it, so it brings luck. Unlike "mascot", it..s formed of the words "mask" (in russian it also means "mask") and "kot"(it stands for "cat" in russian). Cats are the most mystical creatures in history, and they are believed to bring luck as well.
