R.I.P. - Somethings are better left DEAD! - R.I.P.
<1985 - 2009>
"MASSACRE was and still is an embodiment and spirit of a legendary death metal band in itself... the band speaks for itself thru it's music... despite who the musicians who play the instruments in the band are."
"The spirit of the band will never die - "
- KAM LEE -
Massacre were formed in 1985 by Allen West, Mike Borders, and Bill Andrews and soon joined by Kam Lee and Rick Rozz. They disbanded in 1987 when Rick Rozz, Terry Butler, and Bill Andrews joined Death.
They reformed in 1990, when Kam Lee convinced Rick Rozz to return to doing the band, and was joined by Joe Cangelosi and Butch Gonzalas to record the "Second Coming" demo.
Shortly afterwards, Terry and Bill quit DEATH and reformed with Kam and Rick to record the debut album "From Beyond".
The band released their debut album "From Beyond" in 1991 followed by an EP "Inhuman Condition" - a year later (featuring Cronos of Venom). After which the band split up again in 1992.
Rozz reformed the band in 1993 and released a new album Promise in 1996. Lee stated this in an interview, "However while in the studio I realized that this material was shit and so during the post production I quit and walked out! This was recorded in 1994."
Promise was very badly received. This led to the group's permanent disbanding shortly after the release.
Massacre reformed for 23 European shows in October/November in 2007 with Denial Fiend opening. This version of Massacre included 3/5 of the "Inhuman Condition" line-up. Kam Lee, Terry Butler and Steve Swanson with Curt Beeson and Sam Williams of Dnial Fiend filling in on drums and guitar. This was not a permanent Massacre reformation.
The tour was know as the "Massacre Re-Animated Tour".
The "Massacre Re-Animated Tour" continued into 2008, thru out both Europe and the US as a "Festival Tour", and ended for their final show at THE WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL in Germany in 2008.
After quiting the band Denial Fiend in 2009, Kam Lee announced plans to continue MASSACRE with an entirely new line up.
Yet due to complaints by former members not wanting Kam to continue with the band or to use the bands moniker - he finally reluctantly relented - and decided it best not to continue with doing the band.
KAM LEE continues in death metal in his band BONE GNAWER and the band THE GROTESQUERY. As well as several other projects.
Fans can check out his bands and projects here on myspace.
Hey, I hope you're still checking the site. I have been in a group home for half a year, and I just got out. So I had no idea that all this shit was happening with Massacre. I'm sorry it had to happen that way man, you were just trying to do the right thing for your fans. Are you still planning on putting out the solo album? If so, I will definitely get it. You deserve album sales because you are so much better than SFU. I also want to take this time to thank you for helping create death metal all those years before I was even born. I wouldn't be alive with out death metal, and thus I wouldn't be alive without you. You're definitely a hero to me. Thanks so much. Keep rotting!
Massacre's "From Beyond" will be forever remembered as a true reference for real Death Metal maniacs, already rated as classic among other great cults of early 90's such as "Dawn Of Possession", "Effigy Of The Forgotten", "Onward To Golgotha"... I remember having used the Chamber Of Ages intro for my radio show more than a decade ago... Massacre is dead, long live Kam Lee and let us hear again the Clangor of War! HAIL DEATH METAL ETERNAL!!!
maybe u should do what Chuck did and keep on going with new musicians every album anyways theres alot of talent out there but only one voice like yours !! and im pretty sure alot of ppl would love to play for u !! or start a new band dont end it like this !! one man can do alot and i know u can !!
If new recordings would be the same quality as in "From Beyond" and not like "Promise" then I'd be at every local show and buying the cds and shirts like a rabid fan.
i never thought massacre should have ended at all,i waited for the epic follow up to "from beyond" it just never came,to put out such a death metal classic and never follow it up with a full length release is something i will never understand,i think kam lee should reform massacre with a better lineup of musicians, keep the same theme and brutal vocal style,i think a new massacre album would be right on time,i would buy it!!
