Mass Histeria Magazine is an in print magazine that focuses on Christian and positive music and cultural issues. We cover anything from ministries to fashion, to athletes. We cover ANY style of music. We cover the established well-known acts as well as the brand new band or artist. We have a heart for the indie scene. We cover bands and events local to New England, as well as across the US and world-wide.
Mass Histeria does not view other magazines or zines as competition. We want the Good News to be spread and the more people using their talents to spread the Gospel, the better. So maybe we are different. Yes, we want to be successful and prosperous and offer the best quality product to our readers, but we also want to support others who may be a better fit to certain music lovers. We want MH to be the best magazine it can be, and to be pleasing to God.
Our first issue, numbered ½, is out now. We chose the number to go along with a comic book idea of numbering the first issue as 0 or ½ to give a preview of things to come. Even though this issue is a full issue, we are hoping to go with a new logo soon and make the magazine bigger, and jam pack with bands, articles, and ads of cool stores.
Mass Histeria started out as a zine in March 2005 and was called Mass Histeria Super Zine. We started out with issue number 0 and the last issue was printed in the Fall of 2006. Our MySpace page for the zine will continue to be maintained, though will no longer be the focus. Not that on that profile we try to keep the friend list specific to Christian oriented bands and profiles, or fans of Christian and positive bands.
Here is a list of what kind of artists and bands we feature:
*) Popular artists/bands. Yes, we cover thos popular bands and artists that every other magazine does too!
*) Former & Less popular artists/bands. We cover bands that broke up and bands that are still around that may not be in the limelight like they once were. Weather on a major label or not, or weather promoted by others heavily or not, these bands are always welcome in MHM.
*) Indie artists/bands. This includes people who recorded an album (who may or may not play shows), those who play fests, coffee houses, churches, parties, etc. This also includes popular bands on independent record labels, or their own private one.
Here is a list of the spirituality of artists and bands we feature:*) Christian artists/bands. Those boldly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
*) Christians-in-a-band. Those who are believers who are in a band, but the band may or may not be praise oriented, or they may sing more on life issues, or things through a Christian’s viewpoint
*) Positive artists/bands & Whit Metal. Bands that may have Christian-friendly lyrics, or just be positive in their writing. Sometimes this is a perspective issue as to what is positive or not. This also includes bands that may have Christian-like lyrics or faith centered ones.
*) Artists/Bands Promoted As Christian. This includes bands that are sold as Christian when they are not, or those who may have a Godly name. This is more of an informative reason so a band can tell the reader exactly what they believe. As a music collector I have purchased a lot of CDs sold to me as Christian bands, when they never were..
We mostly cover heavier styles, but any style is welcome. Here is a list of styles we will gladly promote: Rock, Metal, Goth, Pop, Country, Rap, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Prog, Instrumental, Punk, Hardcore, Grunge, EMO, Alternative, Reggae, Big Band, Folk, Praise, Contemporary, Pop, Dance, Hip-Hop, Unblack, Death, Thrash, Rapcore, Ambient, Spoken Word, Chant and so on!!!

Patience is a virtue which I have little of, but when I feel it slipping I just call on God. I'm trying hard to master it, I really need it now. The devil's got me cornered.
