THE SHORE JULY 22nd- SPACELAND JULY 27th- SILVERLAKE LOUNGE AUG 14th
Venice Beach, California: July, 2009 - Following a successful string of shows through June, Australian indie-folk rocker Matt Ellis, continues his live run through Summer. Catch Matt in acoustic duo mode July 22nd (8pm) at The Shore in Hermosa Beach, performing with The Fling. Matt joins fellow Aussie, Andy Clockwise the following Monday July 27th (9pm) on the final night of his residency at Spaceland. Then August 14th (9pm) sees Matt playing his own show at The Silverlake Lounge, before he heads back to Tucson AZ for more shows and mixing on "Births, Deaths & Marriages", the new album due later this year.
Audiences at The Silverlake Lounge (Los Angeles), Pappy & Harriet’s (Joshua Tree) and Hotel Congress (Tucson) were treated to a live preview of the new album in June. The shows attracted a stack of new fans and invitations to return to all venues, including the HOCO Festival held at Hotel Congress in Tucson, AZ.
Ellis has been flat out since unleashing a taste of "Births, Deaths & Marriages" at two key showcases during SxSW; Little Radio & Spin It Indie. He brought with him a sample pressing of two new tracks, "Heart Of Mine" and "Births, Deaths & Marriages", mixed by Craig Schumacher (Calexico, Neko Case). These tracks have since been featured on Hear Ya, Little Radio, Buzz Bands, Rollo & Grady plus BreakThru Radio and continue to show up on music blogs worldwide, as the buzz around this new album grows.
This recent buzz began in December '08 when Ellis locked himself in studios in Los Angeles and Tuscon and began recording his highly anticipated 4th album, "Births, Deaths and Marriages". After recently traveling through the Delta and Southern States of America, the new album is unequivocally influenced by the private moments Ellis had on the road; the grit of the legendary juke joints, the lulling quiet of the desert and the effect the slide has on the soul. These new tracks have sincere, plainspoken lyrics and a foot in the fervent sound of old Bruce Springsteen and Waylon Jennings, while fusing a pop sensibility ideal for radio.
Matt's thoughtful arrangements were most recently displayed on his internationally-acclaimed, 2007 album "Tell the People". This much-talked-about album featured a who’s who of the alt-country scene including Nels Cline (Wilco) and Tim Young (Beck) on guitars, Greg Leisz (KD Lang, Joni Mitchell) on lap steel, pedal steel and mandolin, Tim Luntzel (Bright Eyes, Emmylou Harris) on bass, Dave Palmer (Fiona Apple, AIR) on piano and Rhodes and Branden Harper on drums. Many of these guests make a return appearance on the new album, joined also by a few surprises.

I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman
