Looking for me Looking for you
1984 - 4-track
This was the first song I recorded in the summer of 1984. Note the many nods to Strauss and the occasional glimpse of Gounod.
I got my life in order
1984 - 4-track
What do you want? I was fifteen. I knew everything. I have several tracks from this period which highlight the backmasking. It was so easy on the old 4-tracks: you just flipped the tape. Now you have to take your mouse, click the little bar, click properties, select "backwards." It's too much bother anymore.

That's me making love to a Korg Mono/Poly on loan from my alma mater, Royal Oak Kimball High School. I was in the choir there, and the choir teacher let me borrow the synthesizer over the summer. Now that's life: No job, no responsibility, an anolog synth with portamento and an arpeggiator, and lest we should forget, lots and lots of TIME.

Blah-di-blah:
New solo CD Horror Express is done!
In 2004 I released a solo CD with my friend Mathew Kennedy on bass. That CD was called Astray.
Before that I was in a band called Discipline., for a good long time. We were never able to make it click commercially, you know. The little success we found was due to the endless kindness of listeners and friends who came to our aid from the very earliest days straight through to the discreet and unremarkable end. You can learn more about the band at the Discipline. web site. [POSTSCRIPT: The Phoenix, she rises. Discipline. are performing again. And so, as always, the end is also the beginning.]
Before that I recorded some music alone. Much of this is pretty awful, but can be occasionally stimulating. (A little like adolescence.)
Before that I wrote a lot of songs that were never recorded, though I performed them here and there, mostly at school concerts. The first time I performed a song of my own making was in 1980(?), in a junior high school choir concert. I was in the seventh grade at the time. My math says I must have been twelve years old. I was always lousy at math.
As I find time, I'll try to put some of the earliest recordings up on the myspace site here. They won't appeal to most the fans of Discipline., and they don't particularly appeal to me either. But if you've read this far you must not have much else to do, so what the hell?
