Catch A Rising Star – Swaggering Song-man Matthew Pop Hits The Road In 09
New York, NY (July 2009) – Matthew Pop is an artist who you’ve probably heard a dozen times but couldn’t pick out of a lineup. Still, Pop has had his music featured in a number of popular MTV shows, in film, on NYC radio and has even been the opening act for Regina Spektor.
The fact is: this prolific and swaggering song-meister, who describes his music as a combination of Weezer, Cheap Trick and The Beatles, is most certainly destined for stardom – but he’s not there yet! So, if you want to be able to brag that you “saw him before he was famous” – you’ll have to get out and catch one of Matthew Pop’s 09 tour dates!
On the heels of his third solo album, Million, Matthew Pop is heading to a dive bar/coffee shop/music venue near you – starting in his hometown NYC in July and slowly carpet-bagging around the country until October. Pop’s solo career began with the release of his first solo album, 2006’s The Great Demise, which featured a collection of songs Pop intended to record with his mates in the Oggs prior to the group’s “demise”. Hopeless Melodic was Pop’s 2008 sophomore album and featured the popular single “Everybody’s Breaking Up”.
For his 2009 tour, Pop promises that fans can expect the unexpected. Sometimes he performs will a full band, other times he’s solo or duo, acoustic. Says Pop, “I like to mix it up live - usually performing songs from all 3 releases, as well as unreleased songs and the occasional cover. Oh, and audience participation is mandatory!”
