Music made by someone who listens to lots of Woody Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt, Utah Phillips, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Brownie McGhee, Lightnin' Hopkins, Todd Snider, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, and lots of other people I don't sound anything like at all.
Dear Matt: It says in your press deal that Sonny Terry is one of your influences. Well, I knew Sonny Terry and used to go to the Hollywood Wilcox Hotel in Los Angeeles when he and Brownie were in town. I can do everything that he did except the Fox Chase and learned his style the first along with Lester Chambers. I could make a bunch of tips if I had a guy who could play like Brownie McGee. this is acutally why I play the accoustic guitar. give a listen to my home message on my telephone: 503-643-3929. If this ain't the best Sonny Terry Style harmoica and vocals that youi have ever heard well, I will burn all of my Little Ronnie business cards and go into retirement. I am hustling to gain recognition and become famous. I( started at the age of 65. This time I am going to make it. Whatever the hell this means. I been Practicing two to three hours a day and I am going to be in the Harmonica Summit at Meleody Ballroom. then I am going to be in the Harmonica blowoff this summer. I won't be stopped. I can play the accoustic guitar much better then I used to caouse I practice all o fthe time and do every gig can do even if its for tips. I am a hustler cause noone is going to do it for me. I need my own band but this is very hard to right now. So we takes it where we can find it. I don't like the northside cause too many gigs dont pay shit. The westside is my side of town. Give me a call and I will come and sing and play with you. Ask Steve how I done: I am going to be asked back to this gig at Roots Brewerey. No fuckin money. I made $19.00 in tips the last time and sung my heart out. Its a real addiction t is musi8c thing Later Ronnie Sirota 503-643-3929 Listent to the "Telephone answering Blues Its as good an accustic harmnica as you are going to hear - what chutzpah!!!! But the truth is the truth. I lov
Hi Matt, It was nice to hear your song on bishopfm last night. I asked Terry to play that for my husband Jeff because as soon as Jeff heard it played on your cd, he related to it right away. He is always working and it just seems to go backward instead of ahead these days. Anyway, I am sure hoping to hear more of your songs being played across the pond. I hope you are having happy and healthy days! Smiles to you, JoAnne
Hey Matt!! greetings from Idaho....thanks for sharing your tunes and friendship...maybe we will cross paths one day...I have two grandchildren in Portland that I'd like to see once in awhile....be good to play over that way too if the chance ever arises...stay in touch...daniel
Matt! I was just looking at your name. The Duet CD is at the manufacturer and I was printing labels so I can get a headstart on packaging (feb 1st or so). Your name was near the top of the chronological list. Nerissa's Journey? Thanks!!! I wrote that at song school in Lyons in a hour while sitting in the river (on a chair) The middle chord is a C/6/9. I play it x32233. The next one is a D7 with a double lift off using your pinky. 3-2-0. I think my guitar might be tuned down for that recording. maybe a step or half-step. Can't remember. Any time!
i'm so looking forward to monday night. it's been to long....
i'll be bringing my keys... if you get a chance, i would love your feedback on my new rough cut tune (my habit) on my page.... it seems so long since i've written! trying to do a more bluesy album in 09...
