Matt Morris performs music you want to sing with. His songs are seductive, addicting, playful, soulful, and ultimately unforgettable. Each song off his upcoming album causes you to move with the groove, swing your hips, slow dance, or pump your fist.
Matt’s musical career began at age seven when he performed “Blue Suede Shoes” to an audience of 15,000, receiving a standing ovation. It’s been hard to get him off the stage ever since. He joined the new Mickey Mouse Club when he turned 11, and that’s where he met future collaborator and producer Justin Timberlake. It was shortly after the MMC television show that Matt discovered his love of and gift for songwriting which has landed his songs on records by leading artists in the pop, rock, and country markets.
In May 2007, Matt signed with Justin’s new label Tennman Records. During 2007 and early 2008, he worked with Austin legend Charlie Sexton, Justin, and a group of talented musicians to create The Un-American LP. The record is, as Tennman Records president Ken Komisar puts it, “just unbelievable.”
Matt has just released a new acoustic EP titled Backstage at Bonnaroo and Other Acoustic Performances. Understanding that many of his fans know him as an acoustic artist, Matt wants to offer them a taste of what they love – songs performed with just his guitar and piano to accompany his unforgettable voice.
“I come from a family where music is played at every large gathering, where people sway in their seats to the melody, and sing along to old familiar songs,” explains Matt. “That will always be a part of who I am - a part of my music. And, while I’m touring with Joan [Osborne] this year, that’s what the audience will hear.” He adds with a grin, “I wanted to be able to share that with everyone… before we amaze them with the incredible album Charlie, Justin, and I created.”
Backstage at Bonnaroo and Other Acoustic Performances is available on iTunes, Amazon.com and anywhere you purchase your favorite music online.
Wow, the Asheville show at the Orange Peel was fantastic. Thank you for giving it up, I mean you really give yourself away to your audience. After your show then that amazing duet with Joan, I felt like I owed you something in return. But I can't sing...well, I can cook, so...would you like a cookie? No, that's inadequate. Hmmm. I'll hug at least 5 people tomorrow, in honor of the love you spilled all over the stage. And I'll tell them about your soulful music, and your crazyawesome vocal acrobatics.
Thanks for the add. You have an amazing voice. I hope you are having a great time on tour. I won't have the money to see you in Chicago, but hopefully you will come to Milwaukee in the near future.
