About me: THE OFFICIAL TRAILER FOR FRIENDS & LOVERS IS HERE!!!
Here are the opening sequence and some clips from my new show, Friends & Lovers. Enjoy!
MAURICE JAMAL IS A DIRECTOR-WRITER-PRODUCER, who's groundbreaking work can be seen in both film and television. He is the creative mind behind the landmark film THE SKI TRIP (MTV's LOGO Network). His second film, DIRTY LAUNDRY is an award winning family dramedy that has created an amazing buzz across the country and throughout the industry.
Starring LORETTA DEVINE, ROCKMOND DUNBAR, JENIFER LEWIS, SOMMORE, TERRI J. VAUGHN and JAMAL himself.
In 2001, with no job, no money and no apartment, he sold his furniture, broke his lease and brought a one-way ticket to New York City to pursue his dreams. A classically trained Shakeperean actor and accomplished slam poet, he made enogh money to eat, by winning poetry competitions across NYC.
His first break was on the feature-film Spider-Man. Hard work and tenacity led to a steady line of gigs, where he proved his production skills and talent, on major network TV shows and academy-award winning films. In a short period he developed a lenghty and impressive list of credits, most notably the smash hit CHAPPELLE'S SHOW (both in front and behind the camera).

Someone once told me that they were lonely, eventhough they were surround by people they loved and loved them. Being lonely isn't being alone. It's not being able to be alone with yourself. Know one can take away loneliness, they can suppress it, become a temporary void, but they can't get rid of it completely. Only the lonely can do that for themselves. I can go anywhere and be in any place and I am never lonely. Because as long as I have me, I am never alone. I love me, who I am and what I have become and becoming. I am happy! I believe that people need to learn how to love themselves, to spend time with themselves and to become happy with themselves. People pleasing and keeping up with the Jones can get you in trouble and in debt. Keep up with you. Please you. Learn to do little things that are pleasurable to you, that lift and feed your spirit. Learn yourself and how incredible you are and how blessed you are to have you. What would you do, without you? Think about it. Then, take yourself to dinner, draw a romantic bath and have an extraordinary time entertaining you. You are the perfect date, so date yourself. Then, when you do date someone else it will be mind blowing, because you will have had a lot of practice enjoying an evening, because you already have done it many times with the most important person of all yourself. Use yourself, learn yourself, know yourself, love yourself. You deserve it! HAPPINESS!
After meeting you last year and seeing how down-to-earth you are, I would love to have you out for the Identity Crisis Discussion Panel during ATL Pride in September 2009.
About this page: I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D

IDENTITY CRISIS CAN BE VERY SAD DANGEROUS, DEGRATING, HUMILIATING, HURTFUL, AND SHAMEFUL. SO MANY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ARE LOST IN IT, THEY STRUGGLE WITH TRYING TO BE WHO THEY ARE, AND WHAT THE WORLD WANTS THEM TO BE. SO IN THIER STRUGGLE THEY PERSONALLY ABUSE THEMSELVES. MAKING THEM VUNERABLE FOR ABUSE BY THE WORLD. GOOD PEOPLE, BECOME BAD PEOPLE, UNLESS THEY BEGIN TO RECOGNIZE THEMSELVES, AND WHO THEY ARE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. SOME PEOPLE FIND THEMSLEVES AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT NEVER DO, AND THEN THERE ARE THE ONE'S WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO LOVE THEM SO MUCH THEY DO ALL THEY CAN TO HELP THEM, ONLY TO REPEAT THEMSELVES TIME AFTER TIME. THIS CRISIS ISN'T PURPOSELY, BUT IT IS MENTAL AND THAT IS WHERE YOU MUST START TO HEAL. THEY MUST LOOK INSIDE THEMSELVES TO FIND WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. AM I A BITCH? SOME STREET WHORE, DESTINED TO BE DOGGED,WORKED. DISRESPECTED BY ME FIRST, CAN'T HELP BUT GET DIRESPECTED BY OTHERS, ESPECIALLY MEN, BEAT OR DEAD. UNLOVED? ARE,AM I A LADY, THAT DESERVE ALL THE RESPECT, SUCCESS AND LOVE THAT GOD MADE FOR ME TO HAVE? AM I A DAWG. A BUM-NIGGA, STREET-THUG, WAITING FOR MY FINAL DEMISE, DISRESPECTING ME, MY MOTHER AND WOMEN, GIVING MEN A BAD NAME,? NOT KNOWING WHO I AM, SO HOW CAN ANYBODY ELSE KNOW ME? LOST,. I STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY, PUBLIC ENEMY #1 NOT ONLY TO THE WORLD BUT TO MYSELF. WHAT DO I DESERVE? KIDS DON'T KNOW ME, THE WORLD IS AFRAID OF ME, I CAN'T GET A JOB, I LIVE IN TRANSIT, THE ONLY PERMENACY IN MY FUTURE IS JAIL OR DEAD, UNLOVED. QUESTIONS WHAT AM I WORTH TO ME? WHAT AM I WORTH TO THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE ME? WHAT COULD I BE WORTH TO THE WORLD? ARE YOU WORTH IT? IS IT WORTH FINDING OUT? CAN I BE WORTH MORE? FIND YOUR WORTH, KNOW YOUR WORTH, LIVE YOUR WORTH. AND IF YOU GET LOST ASK GOD BECAUSE HE ALREADY KNOWS THE ANSWER AND IN SEEKING THE ANSWER AND HIM YOU FIND YOURSELF, A BEGINNING. IDENTITY CRISIS ENDED. AGAPE!
