Sounds Like
Ham-fisted rock 'n' roll skirting the boundaries of punk, metal and hardcore. The Hookers, The Necros, Poison Idea, Speedealer, Zeke, Discharge, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Motorhead, Turbonegro, Nashville Pussy, ???
Such has been the driving force behind Toronto’s Maximum RNR for over half a decade: Do It Yourself. Don’t rely on others to get your point across.
Purveyors of hardcore punk rock ‘n’ roll with metal and blues undertones since 2002, Maximum RNR’s Motorhead meets Black Flag sound is equaled by a frenzied, and at times, chaotic live performance. In fact, over 275 of them; including 4 Canadian tours, innumerable Ontario and Quebec shows and a 2007 European campaign.
However, Maximum RNR’s passion isn’t solely dedicated to the live show - as their recorded catalogue proves. Hiring producer Ian Blurton (Dayglo Abortions, Cursed, Tricky Woo) to capture their bombast in a recorded setting, the pairing has begotten two seven-inch singles, two CDEPs and a split recording on Philadelphia based Relapse Records with Holland’s The Spades.
All of this culminates in their newest release, a split seven-inch with New Jersey punk rock ‘n’ roll stalwarts, Electric Frankenstein. Finding their sounds and styles complementary while touring together in 2003 and 2005, the groups decided to unite forces.
The limited edition (500 copies), 43 gram green virgin vinyl features Maximum RNR tracks “Turmoil” and the previously unreleased “The Wheel” backed with Electric Frankenstein’s “Life In Rewind” for the first time on 45rpm. Cover art by Montreal’s Johnny Crap and Winnipeg’s Merinuk, coupled with additional art by Gary Pullin and Brett Bakker complete the full colour package. http://www.maximumrnr.com/
It was great playing with you a couple weeks back.
Hopefully the road was as good to you as you were bad to it, the appropriate amount of virgins were sacrificed, and that guitar feedback rings an uncompromising and blatent disregard for the man in the ears of those fortuitous enough to catch you.
GAARRR!!! I'm heading to your end of town as your heading to mine.. Dammit! Be carefull with the Winnipeg boys, they like to play guitar with their teeth and kick beer bottles into the crowd. :P
Have fun on tour.. take pics or you won't know what you did.
