"Stunning" TOM ROBINSON BBC RADIO 6
"They're the only local band I've seen that have the ability to firmly place a huge smile on every single face in the crowd, invoke spontaneous dancing and create an electric buzz wherever they play." NARC
"Be it the frenetic polka of El Rapido Bastardo that makes Gogol Bordello look lethargic, the rocket-fuelled violin punk of Green Henry, or the folk tinged strumming of the unashamedly hippy song Tree Song, you'd be hard pressed to find a more appropriate use of the word eclectic." THE COURIER
"Their aural sunshine mixes bluesy rockabilly with skiffle interludes and filters it through a feelgood fairground sound in a woozy triumph. Intoxicating." THE CRACK
"One of the most fulfilling live experiences in the North-east!" NORTHERN ECHO
"The Newcastle-based sextet shift effortlessly between sublime folk riffing, rockabilly and, on occasions, blues-rock that familiarises itself with Led Zeppelin. They even make skiffle interesting, and this is because where they harness these styles and influences, they don't dwell on them. All the time you know that they are smiling, because this is happy music played by happy people. I for one am glad that, in a country where Blues-rock has become so stale there is one band using initiative and doing something enlightening." BLUES MATTERS
"They whipped the room-restricted crowd into a minor frenzy with their unique blend of rockabilly blues" THE JOURNAL, CULTURE MAG
"UK's finest folk-punk-skiffle-rockabilly-country band" TEN FEET TALL
Maybe Myrtle Tyrtle are an all singing, all dancing pack of Troubadours from the UK (and Jersey;0).
Totally at home playing on stage, busking in the street, dancing on your screen or jammin' down the studio. In a flash they're upon you in a wave of good times, rock and steam-rolling you into joyous submission!
Formative years were spent in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Robbie and Roger, having met on a rooftop, decided to form this band.
In this band, as in life people came and went, things changed and things got better.
Gigs started filling up, records started selling, horizons broadened, time continues to roll and we keep on keeping on.
I've been missing in action trapped in the jungles of Nam, well actually walking dogs in my new capacity as dog walker, but that Brown Box is another effortlessly wonderful record.
As I would expect coming from the magnificent Turtles. When is the new album out.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
