Brainpower - Bio 2009

Brainpower starts to rhyme in the mid eighties (inspired by Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim, LL Cool J and Kool Moe Dee amongst many others) .The year 1988 sees the MC's first song and ever since he has been working on his career as a solo artist. After ten years of honing his craft as a furious battle MC, he wins the critically acclaimed dutch 'Grote Prijs van Nederland' contest for upcoming, unsigned acts in Amsterdam, 1998. Together with his DJ, TLM he wins awards in all but one category (that of Best singer). The Best MC, Best DJ (TLM), People's Choice Award and the Main Prize.

Dropping seven albums throughout the following decade, Brainpower is considered a Benelux icon. Because of his diverse quality music and dedication creating it he has been a top name in the Benelux for years. Yet, maintaining his credibility and his hard-earned critical acclaim. Being a kid from 'The Golden Age' of Hip Hop, the eighties, his repertoire always captures universal emotions, never losing the essence of - and his passion for - Hip Hop culture, as well as his intense love for many other music genres. After having had a 1 song in both Holland and Belgium, multiple gold-selling records, a platinum plaque, numerous nominations and winning at least ten (!) important awards Brainpower received the first ever State Lifetime Achievement Award December 22nd 2008. In the legendary Milky Way Venue in Amsterdam he was acknowledged for his impact on Hip Hop Culture. Having done over 2,000 shows during years of extensive touring, Brainpower is working his international debut. This album will feature production by Big Boi of Outkast, Oh Jay and (the Alchemist/Dilated Peoples affilliated) duo Sid Roams.

*1996-2006: Having hosted parties/performed with Afrika Bambaataa, Run DMC. 2000-2005: Opening act for Eminem, D12, N.E.R.D., Xzibit, De La Soul, Black Moon, Nelly, Black Eyed Peas and Snoop Dogg.

*2005: BRAINPOWER released his own extreme limited edition SIDEKICK!

*2006: One of few celebrities in Europe to ever be placed on over 12 million Coca Cola cans and bottles.

*2007: Drops 'Non Stop' with fellow crew The PartySquad. Over 3 Million YouTube views 95 best viewed video of all time! Brainpower wins his 4th TMF Award! Unprecedented in Benelux Hip Hop
