Bio:

The Mechanics of Romance are a rip-roaring weirdo explosion of obnoxious punk rock. Forget everything you've ever learned about rock n' roll. This is the new breed. The mechanics were born out of a holocaust whirlwinded in the stylings of mid century fluxus art and late 70's punk rock. The music can only be described as skewed synthesizers angled to kill. The drums: simple and smashy. The guitar: sloppy and stupid. The overall visual aesthetic is a tangled ball of spiraling twine wrapped up in futuristic pink plastic. This is new wave for the now generation!

Adam’s band goes by the name The Mechanics of Romance, and it features him on guitar and vocals, Stacy Strange ..boards and bass and Debbie Steady on drums. No, neither Stacy nor Debbie are living people, but that doesn’t keep them from being a more lively rhythm section than most current Milwaukee bands. Though to be fair, pretty much anyone would be energized by Adam’s efforts. He’s the only person I know willing to set up a full band’s worth of equipment by himself for the sole purpose of maintaining the Mechanics’ visual aesthetic. Anybody willing to do that much work and make it look easy gets my vote.

The Mechanics of Romance is a high-energy synthesizer-driven punk band that dabbles in garage. Their songs are pretty fast, totally easy to dance up a storm to, and rock up a storm. The vocals are sung with force, and then there is the occasional theatrical edge they bring in. This is awesome!

Fast synth punk from Milwaukee. This is cooool. Totally lo-fi, fun punk rock that you could dance your ass off to; should dancing your ass off be your thing. Some tracks come through with a garage or surf sound but still retain the energy of punk rock. Good listening for before you go out on Saturday night. It will definitely set the tone for a fun evening. I want to get more from these guys. Excuse me, these girls and guy.

Got this little demo package in the mail the other day and was totally blown away upon pressing play. If this were a record, I'd wonder if I accidently had it on a higher speed. This is new-wave tinged punk rock played with blazing intensity with energy to spare. The songs are short and seem to follow a formula. But the formula works, so who am I to wrench the gears. Fans of Lost Sounds, Feelers, or Terrible Twos take notice.
